2012 fall plots

Finished up these clover plots the weekend before last. Put down about 250 lbs of 6-12-12 and broadcast pelletized lime. Had picked up 4 bags of clover crush on clearance at wal mart after last season ended. Started raining before I was done broadcasting the seed, my spreader door on my push spreader broke about 10 yards into the bigger plot and ended up losing a lot of seed. Should have had enough leftover for one more small plot, but ended up short and filled in with a radish and brassicas mix I picked up at wal mart. Have not had great results in the past with brassicas, we'll see how this stuff works out.

1/4 acre plot here, from my hangon stand. Threw some wheat in along the edge closer to the woods, hoped it would give me a little cover to get to the stand.

This one is about 3/5 of an acre. Too bad the pic was blurry, but it was pretty early when I took it. Deer on the right dwarfed the two sparring, pretty decent deer for around here. Box blind where the girls hunt quite a bit is on the right side just out of the pic.

Will get some more pics maybe this weekend, should be a good bit of green up by now.

no plots this year... no time. Pat's looks good. William if your plots greened up nice they look like they'd would work out well. not sure if there's lots of atv or people traffic/stuff going on within sight of those plots, but Frigid Forage has this plotscreen mix. Basically can plant it to make a plot feel secluded to deer or use it to create funnels. between plots.

Plots should turn out great William! I've had good luck mixing wheat in with other seeds.

I didn't do much food plotting this year. The hot, dry summer and kids ball games kept me at home. My clover plot is about 50% weeds, so I just mowed it short and broadcast some leftover turnip and rape I had in the basement. We'll see if it does anything. Hopefully next year I can spend a little more time on food plots.

Nice pics guys!

We planted 12 plots last weekend, a couple had places that were way too wet but they aren't going to dry out anytime soon. Planted rye, rye grass, clover, winter peas, and wheat. Left out the oats this year, don't ask me why. Need lime bad I know, maybe next year we'll get a bulk order up.

Will try to get some pics soon, hope to get a little rain this weekend. Our lease has two types of land, high and dry, or low and wet lol. One side will burn up while you can grow rice on the other.

what one was the that from evolved harvest?

Planted clover crush and then also planted rack radish. Two plots with clover crush and overseeded the rack radish into part of one of the plots. The radish stuff looked good, but the deer did not seem to care for it.

Plenty of spring moisture, have mowed already and need to mow again. Going to try clethodim to get rid of the grass.

Few recent pics,
