Shoobee
On day #3 of my past week's hunting trip, it was 7 a.m., just after shooting light, and I was on the side of a steep rocky hill. I noticed movement behind me, what looked like in the early morning gloom in the forest to be a boulder moving from right to left below me. Slowly stepping to the left, I got a better look, seeing then that it was a doe, wandering along, feeding on various shoots along the ground. At one point she looked straight at me, but in my Realtree camo, she did not seem to notice me standing there, although she was only 25 yards away. It is buck season now, only. Even so, it was great to know that the camo works.
dbHunterNY
closest encounter i had was over 10 years ago probably in Realtree camo. sat at the edge of a little island full of weeds and small trees out in a hay field. had a doe feed to within arms length away. i could hear the grass being nipped off and her breathing. if there wasn't such a stiff breeze i don't think she would've got that close. i was actually quartered away from her and no way i could move or taken a deep breath or anything. it was still awesome though. wtnhunt
Been pretty impressed with AP. Had a couple deer last year come up a wooded gully while I was standing beside a tree checking a camera. They got within probably 10 ft of me while I was standing there and looked right past me a couple times.

WHISKEYSWAMP
Have to love up close encounters... Back when I crossbow hunted I had a doe feed around me for several minutes. I thought she was going to bite my boot at one point. There was a pretty good breeze, once she got to the downwind side she jumped dang near kicking me and took off. Shoobee
I don't know what it is about our scent that scares them off like that. I try to clean up in camp every evening and put on odorless deodorant too, and body powder to keep my skin dry and odor free. I use a plastic tub, and do a complete sponge bath like that every evening before turning in. Hair scent is something that I have heard there is little you can do anything about. You can tell you have hair scent simply by running your hands through your hair, and then smelling your hands, and the scent is unmistakeable. My hunting buddy solves this by shaving his head before we go hunting.
Ravin R10 man
I like my hair short anyways..that way I dont have to worry if it is messed up cause you cant tell..lol..anyways you can only control scent just so far...and do not hunt the satnd if the wind is wrong!
