Drive/hunt time.

Before we bought our property I drove 35 minutes to get to the property and usually those were for morning hunts. Now, walk out the door and I am on my way on feet to my stands, furthest one roundabout ways is probably a little over a 1/2 mile, don't hunt that one too often.

When we hunted Wyoming, the hotel we stayed at was about a 45 minute ride to the property we hunted.

I don't have any land close to me to hunt. No public land in my county, and the closest is at least a 30-40 minute drive from here. Have driven to my uncles place a few times, that is an hour and 20 minutes one way. I used to have permission to hunt a small piece of land about 40 minutes away. I would drive that every morning and hunt all day. Our farthest drive is just over 400 miles and about a 7 hour drive to the farm we hunt in the upper peninsula.

If hunting around the house I just have to drive to get to the other side of the section to have easier access to stands. Tomorrow for the opener I will drive an hour to my favorite hunting spot, still have a couple stands to set also. I also drive 7 hours every year to the UP, Michigan to the cabin for deer camp... lucky to see a deer up there some years but still wouldn't miss camp.

2 1/2 hours is the shortest distance I have ever driven to go hunting. I have two spots which are that far away, one to the east and another to the south.

4 hours is more common for me, either to the north or as before to the east.

I have also driven as much as 12 hours to the north or 12 hours to the east to hunt out of state.

On none of these trips would I return again the same day. That is just too much driving, and driving like that when tired is very dangerous. Either I will camp, or I will get a motel room.
