soillap
Hey just wondering what kind of cover scents everyone uses or recommends. I use deer dander but would like to find some others to use.

MUDRUNNER
I always put a few squirts of coon pee on the tree when I get settled in. I don't know if it helps or not, but been doing it for years.
Turkeygirl
Nothing......I try leaving a doe urine trail on my way to the stand, dragging a rag on the ground behind me, also tried some scent away spray on my clothing...don't know if it worked or not, otherwise I don't use anything....now do I use scentlock....and you all have seen the deer I've killed... Scbasshunter
Does anybody use the scent wafers for anything more than storing with your hunting clothes? I just don't see how they would be very affective hanging from my hat.
Ethan Givan
I dont use any cover scent. I try to smell like...nothing. No scent whatsoever. Sometimes I wonder about these cover scents like the fresh earth or the cedar. While they may smell like the real thing to us, seems to me the highly sensitive nose of a deer might be able to tell it isnt the real thing. I dont know that of course, but it makes me wonder. I do drag a rag behind me to the stand during the rut that has been dipped in doe urine. Never had buck come in following my trail yet though. RangerClay
I agree with Ethan. I used to try cover scents and wafers but all they do is make you smell like a human in a pine tree. Nothing can truely cover human scent. Wash down good, keep your clothes clean and watch the wind. It is the best recipe for success.
hoosierhunter
There are some studies that say deer can smell up to 7 scents at once which kind of nullifies cover scent.
Born4it
HS Fresh Earth. Trying White Oak Acorn this year for something new. One of the best ideas I've heard/tried for a while is smoking your clothes. I'm sure others here could explain it better or have more experience with it, but it's basically burning something like leaves that creates a lot of smoke and letting the smoke penetrate your hunting clothes. God bless, Ryan
