kcall
How do you overcome punching the trigger with bows? I did great not punching the trigger over the summer but once deer season started back up I've fallen into my old habits. Please send tips to overcome my problem! redkneck
This is a subject that has been talked about a lot over the years in forums. I've know guys with this problem but I really can't personally identify with it. I got over my jumpiness years ago with a rifle and have been squeezing the trigger ever since on both guns and bows. My problem is keeping my calm when a decent buck is under me (and sometimes when a doe makes me out and I want to take her) and I am trying to get a draw on him. Once I am in full draw, I got it made, no jerking the trigger from that point. Wish I could give you advice, but think of it just like a firearm, take a deep breath and slowly squeeze the trigger. Scbasshunter
What helps me is knowing that I won't have any recoil like I do with my rifle. Not sure if that helps you or not, but maybe you are having problems with it playing with your mind like I did.
kcall
HELP! That may be one of the main problems is adrenaline. When the animal is right there it's like something takes over and no matter what I do i can't squeeze the trigger slow enough instead of punching it. soillap
Try talking yourself through each shot. I always say draw, kisser, aim, steady, and release. That helped me alot to just stay calm and focused which i think helps to keep all around good form.

bbarcheryhunter
I also had that prob wen I want to shoot a deer. Wat I started doing was I will put my pin on the deer then I'll talk to myself and take it off the deer and start over with setting the pin where I want it and I feel it make me concentrate better. I know sometimes u don't have a lot of time but it has really helped me. Wish u the best of luck
