Tracks can be bucks or doe's or both.

You need to get up really early pre-light, or stay post-dark, to spot for bucks, if that's what you have tags for, rather than just rely on tracks, unless you have either-sex tags for deer.

We spotted several bucks in velvet in one of our hunting zones this year, whereas only tracks in another zone.

The tracks turned out to be all doe's, and there were no bucks there, and the USFS ranger confirmed that the buck-doe ratio was out of control there, and there were way too many doe's for the few bucks to inseminate. That area will be crashing soon.

Welcome to Realtree.

No rubs yet or scrapes...But I have been physically seeing lots of doe around our land. Where the girls are , thats where the boys will be. We have lots of apple trees. A big draw.

Our archery season opened on Oct 1st. This weekend will be my first deer hunts.

What you have to get is a trail cam. It has really changed the game of scouting and taking inventory on your huntable land.

Shoobee i dont know where your hunting but down here i know that the bucks for the most part their divided hoofs will be spread out with a little space in between and will have 2 little indents on the backside of the tracks. The does wont have the indents and the hoofs will be side by side with no space between em.

scouting.....

Just a quick update: I went out today to refresh the deer scent where I'm going to hunt. It wasn't two minutes after I finished spraying the doe urine that I heard a buck grunt. At first I thought it may have been another hunter being a smarty pants, then when I looked around, it was a buck! After he decided to take off I saw another deer go trucking through a matter of maybe 40-50 yards away from my stand! Out of all times to not have my bow and tags with me!!! Ugh!!!
