Scbasshunter
I called the guy who runs the lease I am in to see who is going opening morning on Thursday. He proceeds to tell me that they had a meeting (without me even knowing about it) and decided that I am "suspended" for the year because I never came out to help with any of the work that was done at the lease. With that being said, I live an hour away and nobody bothered to call me and let me know they were going out there to do some work. I even called him several times over the past 6 months to ask when they were going out there, only to be told "we've been out there the past few days." Or " we just got back from being out there." I just thought it was a crappy deal and needed to vent.
stevebeilgard
sounds like they're trying to cut you out. i'd contact each person individually and tell them what happened.
Ethan Givan
Yep sounds like they were trying to leave you out on purpose, so they would have an excuse to suspend you. I would be looking for a new lease.
92xj
Sounds like every club I have been in, in South Carolina. Also sounds like there is some of the story missing... Out of the 5 clubs I have been in, in 20 years, there have always been work days. At the beginning of the year the dates were set and sent out to members via emails or snail mail before email was around. If folks didnt show or forget about them and didnt show for any of the 3 or so work weekends, they were out for the season. In your situation, if all is true about them excluding you. I would show up opening day morning at lunch time when everyone is out around camp and ask them to their face if they were trying to get rid of you and make them man up and say it to your face. Scbasshunter
Bad deal. There really is no more to the story. At the end of last year it was decided that we would get an early start this year working on it in February. I never got the first phone call. When I would call, I was told "I'll let you know when we go out there." It used to be a small camp of friends just wanting to hunt. A new guy came in last year with a bunch of money and equipment and pretty much took over. I think it went to the head of the guy who runs it and they pushed me out. He says its because I never went out there to help, but once again if nobody calls me and my phone calls aren't followed up on, how am I supposed to know? None of the guys use email either. I just plain got screwed and I will not be going back next year.
Flintlock1776
What was in you written contact for the lease? The requirements should have been clearly stated
Scbasshunter
Bad deal. No contract. It was just a small (100 acres) piece of land that a group of friends hunted. This new guy came in with his money and equipment and is apparently trying to make it some fancy big time hunting club.

layin on the smackdown
A Bad Deal would be if you got booted from a 1000 acre tree farm and were left with a 100 acre lease split 14 ways in which one guy carries the marbles. Aside from that being the largest part of this "Bad Deal", if you paid money, youre in, bottom line. thats all of my 2 cents. dan
