Flintlock1776
As Father Time takes his toll, at what age do you think you will be when you will have to hang up your hunting gear?

Adjam5
If I can pull a trigger I will gun hunt. If I cannot draw a bow in the presence of a animal... I will not bow hunt. If I can set a trap. I will trap. As long as the body lets me go on...I will keep on at it.

arrow32
When will you give up hunting? As long as I'm able to pull the trigger and I'll be out there. We took my grandfather to the stand clear to the door pretty much on a 4 wheeler if I'm luckily enough to have kids and grand kids like that I hope till the day I die. But for the most part most people in the family are able to move pretty good until they die.

OJR
When the "fire" leaves you belly and all of a sudden you feel like you have killed enough! That is what happened to me. Also, due to physical problems and it just wasn't any fun anymore!
Dawg
Hard to put an age to it. I'll give it up if the day ever comes that I wake up at 4 in the am to go hunting and I have the same feeling as when I am getting up to go to work. ruttinbuc
I can only say that the fire is still burning to take it all in. To participate in any way I physically can. To watch the sunrise and see it set along with whatever shows between. There are times when I see the way hunting and it's traditions have changed and where it is heading I want to pull anchor and drift into something else. What keeps me balanced with it all is at the end of the day is knowing that there is nothing to prove and I can do it again tomorrow. Rhino
Heck...I can't put an age on it. I turkey hunted with a guy in Alabama years ago that was taking his father & putting him in a natural blind before he struck out. His father was in his 90's. I know another elderly guy in his late 70's that's lost both legs and he's still deer hunting. I figure worst case is there will come a time when I can't climb into a treestand again. When that time comes I'll just hunt in a blind or just off the ground. Might get to the point where I quit killing them & just watch them. There's a lot more to enjoy while hunting besides killing critters.

I've had it already happen to me, but its been while guiding - it was a short burn out factor. Aside from that, i am gonna go and go, and hopefully infect as many future generations as i can while on the way, and when i am no longer physically or mentally able to head out, thats when i will call it a hunt of a lifetime. dan

Tominator
Hunting for me has evolved so much in the last few years. It used to be that I did it for myself. In other words, it didn't matter if I had anyone to hunt with or not. If I wanted to hunt, I did. Last few years though, I would prefer to hunt with someone or a group of guys, because it's not so much about the hunt anymore, as it is with comraderie and sharing a few stories. I also enjoy watching my kids hunt. So far though, none of them bug me to hunt except my youngest and he's just a bit too young to hunt just yet. Long story short, I think I'll hunt as long as I can. Having fought and beat cancer 6 times now, I just try to cherish every moment I have, take what comes, and try and not worry about the future.
