dbHunterNY
i've hunted in light rain, but anything that heavy will wash any blood trail away quick.

Morris
hunting in the rain. Is it worth hunting in light rain?
Rhino
Is it worth hunting in light rain? To me it is. That's why I have a tree umbrella...well really 2 of them in case a buddy needs one. Rain suit too. I've seen a lot of deer movement during a light rain. Also...when it quits there's sure been times when I've seen a flurry of activity right after it quit. Generally, if there is a light rain I'll limit my shots to shorter distances than when it's dry.
redkneck
I love early bow season with a steady but light rain, nice and quiet for slipping around too.
layin on the smackdown
Rain is not a bad thing regarding deer activity, but it can be a very bad thing in terms of tracking. If you make a marginal hit on a deer in a decent rain, youre in for a long long recovery attempt. dan
WStreblo
hunting in the rain. Hit them woods! Deer will move in a light steady rain. After a heavy down pour they will move to food sources so if its dumping it down and you see the break coming you better be in the tree when it stops. Agree with all the above convo on tracking in the rain... Knowing the layout of your land will help too.
Morris
hunting in the rain. Any other advise. It don't have to be about hunting the rain. It can be about hunting in general and different months.
robbiethekid
hunting in the rain. Seen 6 deer in the rain I had here Monday. Rain was off and on but when it was on it was light. I was able to take my deer of the season in it, a big doe. But I've always had great luck hunting in the rain
WStreblo
Hey Morris, One piece of advice I had to learn the hard way... DONT BECOME PATTERNABLE. Mix things up at times and when you think you shouldnt be in the woods is when you should be. Killed many good bucks not just here in Ohio but as well as in states I was stationed in while in the service between 10am and 2pm. Now dont start thinking your going to sit on the edge of a corn field at noon and shoot a monster... but if you know your land and you know where the thickest nastiest pile of old tree tops and green biar is located and near a food source... get a stand in there and slip in mid day.... Tominator
I like hunting in the rain. Only thing I worry about is the blood trail washing away, so you have to really make sure of your shot.
too_pointer
One thing that occurs to me, in the rain getting fletchings wet on your arrows. Not so much on the plastic ones, but feather as can be affected. I have shot a number of deer in the rain, and snow, but it being light really helps. too_
Morris
hunting in the rain. I hunted this morning and did the best I could for hunting with the wind cause some of my stands can be hunted with a north wind or a south wind. So you pretty much just take on what they will do that morning or evening. I saw 1 turkey, 2 coyotes and a small 6 point I let walk. I'm not going to lie, I let 1 of the coyotes have it. I tracked it and tracked it and found a spot where it laid down and I guess got up again and u couldn't find any blood after that. I was hoping to find and dispose of it but never found it. I'm just glad it was a a coyote and not a deer.
