redkneck
Not bad, takes a long time to get tender. But it was after a few cold ones at the cap and we were hungry so anything would have been good lol. I've caught many and sold them. You can get 12-15 bucks for a clean one around here, doesn't sound like much, but trapping 8-10 a week add up. Haven't done that in several years. Ohiobucks
Re: Ever tried racoon? Raccoon taste like greasy dark meat chicken. My hometown has a coon supper on the first Monday of February every year. They bake it with gravy...it's not terrible like you would picture it being... wtnhunt
Never tried it, but I view coons about the same as I do coyote's and I kill every yote I can with absolutely no intentions whatsoever of eating them. Coons are a destructive nuisance.

bowhunter97
Would you guys still shoot them though if they were eating your corn before the deer?
Rhino
Yep...eaten it before but it was prepared by someone else. Heck, it was pretty good. I didn't know I was eaten coon till they told me. Like Tom said...tasted like dark meat chicken but this wasn't greasy. Not sure how he prepared it. Remember something he said about boiling it for several hours so it would be tender and not too greasy. Don't know what he did from there with the finished meal. Would you guys still shoot them though if they were eating your corn before the deer? Even though we can't bait, that wouldn't be my excuse for killing them. They are one of the worst critters that predate turkey nest. That's a better reason to me to reduce the population. I would and have killed coons from time to time while bowhunting & squirrel hunting. Never bothered shooting one with a high power rifle cuz I know they'll just explode. A black landowner we lease a small tract from (about ~40 ac.) within our MS hunting club's property will take every coon we get. We also have a few coon traps we'll run for him from time to time. He has some traps too. Last year he was begging for more coons for a New Years feast. If I knew how to prepare it right I might make the effort. hoosierhunter
Ever tried racoon? Yeah I have no urge to eat one of those, I've shot one in the woods and the noise was enough to deter it from happening again.
