hammerforged
I haven't bought a pair in over 25 years and am in need of a new pair. Went looking this past weekend and was overwhelmed by the number of choices out there. Anyone bought any recently, if so what kind and what was your determining factor. Back when I bought my last pair neoprene waders weren't even available.
ckrich
I bought new waders last year, and on the recommendation of my hunting partners, I got the Cabela's 5mm Neostretch chest waders. I know that at least 4 of my buddies have these exact waders, have been using them for multiple years, and I really like mine. And you can usually find them on sale, like they are right now. Cabela's: Cabela's 5mm Neostretchâ„¢ Chest Waders with Lug Soles - Regular Now, if I was going to splurge I would get a set of Mack Prairie Wings. I have heard nothing but great reviews on them. 92xj
Out of all the waders I have ever had the Cabelas Super Mags are the best. They are warm during early duck season, but are a life saver in late season. They hold up the best to everything I have thrown at them. rocks, grass, trees, boat, dog, tailgates and russian olives. I know it doesnt get as cold down there as it does here, so maybe look at the non super option. I wear them fishing as well, but again, our waters are much colder than yours. Jeramie
I just have a cheap pair of Redhead that I bought on sale for $85. Going on my 3rd year and the first two were worth the money. I will upgrade a little but it wont be this year. Im guessing these will make it through the 2013 season too.

hammerforged
Thanks for the input - looking at Cabela's web site it states that the inseam for the size 9 waders is 32 -34 inches. I wear a size 9 boot but have very short legs with a 29-30 inch inseam. How comfortable will these be to sit and drive in with the extra inseam length? My question is are they going to bunch up on me?
Jeramie
They will bunch up but most are pretty tight so its not too bad. I personally dont wear them until I get to the field. Slip on bluejeans, buy or make a set of the velcro straps that hold the jeans around your ankles, and slip on the waders when you get out. Trust me.... its much better. This will also keep you from getting back in your truck with wet waders. Waders in general are bulky, floppy things. Youll appreciate the jeans and tennis shoes until you get to the field. 92xj
I had the same problems, bigger boot means longer inseam. The cabelas Super Mags come in a stout which keeps the legs a little shorter. I drive in my waders and leave them on all the time from getting up to driving, hunting, driving home and so on. I live in them! When they are wet and I jump in the truck, I just unbuckle them and fold them over around belly height. That way the dry part on my back is now around my butt and my seats stay dry.
