Bucks getting fired up

I had a pretty good sit today... I had a decent buck at 100 yards shadowing a doe across a field and a couple more bucks, one being a definite shooter, with noses to the ground off in the distance. Around 4:30 this afternoon, a nice 10 point came by the stand but hoping he makes it another year. I've heard several reports of mature bucks hanging with does. how are things in your neck of the woods?

Bucks getting fired up

Had a lone 10pt. For sure shooter. Come by just at first light. Still dark enough to where I couldn't see my pins. Turned on pin light and drew. He was at what I guessed as 40. Later I ranged it was 48. I shot way low. He jumped the fence and went off down a ridge. He didn't seem to know what happened so I hope I didn't screw myself. But tonight I sat below the milo field. Hoping to catch a cruising buck working ditches before the rut heats up. Right about sunset. I noticed 3 deer at about 1000yards. Couldn't make out what they were. Just know one was big and two were smaller. My best guess is a buck and a doe and her fawn. That's all I saw today. Rubs are everywhere. Scrapes are also becoming prevalent. And they are all being continually worked.

Had a little 3 point respond to grunt and rattle this morning. Half hour after he left 2 does with their fawns came busting out of some pines looking back over their backs. 5 minutes later a little 6 point dogged the nearest doe back into the pines. Talked to a buddy last week and he saw a shooter 8 doggging a doe.

Little guys are getting started. Warm temps predicted here this week. Hopefully I'll get a chance to hunt a little more soon. My son is done with football and my daughter has 1 more game, so that will free me up a bit.

I havent been out since Sept. 30th when I killed a doe, but I plan to start hunting hard this coming weekend. Supposed to have a cold front push through Friday night, and then daily highs in the low 50s and lows in the 30s for the following few days. That should get things going pretty good I would think. Been seeing a little more daylight activity on the trail cameras. Im ready.

BTW my brother is hunting tonight, and he just called and said he had some smaller bucks sparring in the foodplot.

I was in the stand from around 3:30 to 6:30 tonight. Had no action until the sun started to go down then I had 16 deer in the field in front of me just grazing. I tried a few grunt call but the deer just kept feeding and none came within bow range. One of the deer was a nice 8 point I hope to see again. Was hoping to get out this week but the temps this week are going up.
