deer slayer
Just wondering what brand of knife y'all use for hunting? I have a Benchmade Bone collector gut hook I just bought, it's way way better than my Wallmart knock off crap knife.
PriceRacing35
Knives An interchangeable blade Kershaw. Gut hook. Filet knife and a bone saw. Actually have two of them. Their decent knives. Not the best. But they hold an edge for a really long time. Good enough for me.
Maine Hntr
Currently don't have one! My backpack with $500 + was stolen from the back of my pick-up a couple weeks ago and I've replaced some items but not my buck knife yet... been looking around trying to figure out what to get, I have a cheaper knife to get me through the time being but talk about a depressing day the day i found my bag missing! Ethan Givan
I have always been fond of Buck knives. I carry two on me while hunting, a larger 110 lockback in my pack, and a smaller all stainless assissted opening that clips in my pocket. I keep both shaving sharp, and I will go to work gutting or skinning with either one.
deer slayer
Knives I like buck a lot too, I was thinkin about getting one.
wtnhunt
Have several, but do not have a Ross Tyser custom, which would be what I would buy if I was to buy another. Usually use my gerber gator for gutting and skinning, holds an edge better than most other knives I have. Have a couple buck fillet knives I use quite a bit too, the buck folder I have comparable to the gerber just will not keep an edge like the gerber. WTN, because I'm in the market for a new knife I checked out Ross Tyser last night and they're beautiful knives to say the least! Makes me want to save my pennies! dbHunterNY
honestly? i've been using for a few years now these mini pocket folder Lanski knives that cost me $5 each. i can sharpen them to a razor edge. they hold it long enough to handle one deer from field dressing it out all the way to the freezer. after that you just have to touch it up with some ceramic to get it razor sharp again. not even on the lanski site so i'm not sure where they came from. i bought them at the archery shop i go to. i bought three thinking they'd fall apart and i still have every one. Dawg
Got a Kabar and an old Uncle Henry with a gut hook but I'm having a knife made. It's a 6" skinner with Cocobolo wood handle, 1095 ss blade.
too_pointer
My dad brought me up using the folding buck knives, I now have 3, and they seem to hold an edge pretty well. I must have at least 10 other knives of different brands, but really don't use them. too_
High Country
I have a whole collection of knives (from my KaBar combat knife to a field dressing tool (FDT))...I usually carry several... 1. A spring-assisted USMC safety knife (with seatbelt cutter)...normally carried in my truck for emergency use 2. A Leatherman Supertool...which is my primary knife for hunting...a 4" blade with a saw blade and it works beautifully...turns field dressing into surgery (much more precise/cleaner)...plus it is pliers, screw-drivers, etc 3. A set of knives from Buckmasters/Rack magazine...one is a lockback 4" pocketknife, the other a 6" fixed blade with gut hook...these are usually in my back / fanny pack... 4. My KaBar combat knife...does not get much use on deer anymore, but is excellent with camp chores...also is usually in my fanny pack... i'm your huckleberry
i've had a nice ruko but very hard to put an edge on. my main knife now is a swiss army , i know laugh but edge goes on easy and stays, but the only draw back is the cutting the brisket for the field dressing. only reason for this is i forgot my knife at home and was black bear hunting, filled my tag and the swiss army come in handy that day,but had to sharpen it 4 times both blades it did the job though. fly
Lightweight folding Buck - Alaskan Guide Crosslock - has Knife, gut hook, and a saw that actually works. Best hunting knife I have used and I've used a lot.

propeller head
I use case and boker tree brand. I love carbon steel blades. Takes more premaint. But they get sharp and hold a edge for ever.
robbiethekid
Knives I've always used cutco knives. Had the same one for ten years now and it seems to never dull. Schrade blade on it is awesome. It's always on my side during the season

ChrisSeb53
Kershaw... sharper than razor sharp out of the package and easy to re-sharpen. Recently killed a doe, gutted/skinned and cleaned her up and the blade is still sharp and ready for its next taste of venison.
