cropleya
Leaving a ladder stand up threw out the winter how long should I expect it to last. I have it set up in private land and just a long hike to pack it out. I was considering next spring spraying the stand down with a rubberized undercoating. Hoping that would prevent rust and extend the life of stand for a few more years. Looking for suggestions and ideas thanks.
soillap
I have six ladder stands that I have coated myself and I leave them up year round. They have been up four years now with no problems. Just be sure to check all components prior to use in the fall. Especially the ratchet straps just in case a little critter decided to chew on them a bit.
VermontHunter
Mine stay out year round, and they get a good Vermont winter pounding. Two of them are well over 5 yrs. old. So all in all they hold up very well to the weather.
wtnhunt
Got a couple homemade metal ladder stands that have been up for over 10 years in the same tree. Have to replace the seats and rope from time to time, about all I have had to do with them. Would be sure to check any welds and check for rust or any points that may be weakened. gzilla45
I've got a ladder stand that has been sitting out in the woods for the last 7-8 years and it is no worse for wear.
