swhughes81
I live in eastern Indiana close to brookville lake. Last year I had pics of bucks every time I checked trail cameras thru the summer into huntin season. This year two buck pictures. I've been hunting since October 2nd and have seen 2 does. I try to hunt 3 times a week and to my knowledge have spooked no deer. Last year almost every hunt in same private land i saw deer including bucks. Does anyone else think blue tongue is worse than what there saying? Others that are hunting around this area are saying they have seen far less deer as well. wtnhunt
Don't know about your area and blue tongue, but ehd which is like blue tongue is worse in years where you see drought conditions. We see ehd here and the more extreme the drought the worse the dieoffs. Had a pretty bad drought here early on, have not heard a thing from our state on ehd though. Rhino
Can't say about your area but it was supposed to be pretty bad where I hunt in northeast MO. Many people refer to EHD as Blue Tongue. We found 1 doe that appeared to have died from EHD back in August close to a creek in MO. We reported it to the local conservaton officer. That was the only one we found. Another landowner we know about 50 miles away said he found 17 dead deer on his place but it's several thousand acres. Typically deer will go to water when they have EHD and will die close to it. Based on the time I've spent hunting in MO this year if there was a severe die off, you sure couldn't tell it from the number of deer seen while hunting. Lots of trail cam pics too.
