Tominator
So, if you have a headlight go out, and find out that the bulb isn't burned out, what would the next step be? 2007 Saturn Outlook. Thanks for any help. BTW--noticed I've got one out on the Silverado too. :bang:
redkneck
Bad socket? No ground connection? I would start by checking if I had 12v at the connector.
wtnhunt
Next step I would take would be to check voltage at the bulb socket with the lights on. If you got voltage there, make sure your contacts inside the socket and on the bulb are clean. No voltage there you will probably have to trace it back where wiring harnesses connect. Shaun_300
Have you had your recall done on the Outlook? They have a recall for the low beam headlights, the sockets and bulbs get replaced with better connectors. Some of the connectors had crappy quality metal contacts and they'd actually melt a bit from the current draw and the headlights would become inoperative. You can PM me your vin and I can make sure your vehicle is covered for the recall.

A quick check and we found whoever replaced the connector simply had twisted the wires together and taped them up. The wire had just come apart. A little solder and some heat shrink tubing and it was good to go. Lynn

Tominator
You can PM me your vin and I can make sure your vehicle is covered for the recall. It's been recalled a few times, but I don't remember that one. Is that a Canadian thing? Thanks Shaun, I'll get that VIN to you.
Shaun_300
I just checked the recall document and it says nothing about Canada only, and if a recall is for Canada only it usually states it in the document.
LETMGROW
Have you checked the fuses? There are seperate fuses for each low beam and each high beam. These are in the underhood fuse box over the right hand wheel well. There should be a legend in the owner's manual. Lynn

Extremely busy of late, and BOTH headlights went out on the truck the other day. Luckily the replacement bulbs worked last night, AFTER I got done cleaning up our washing machine that sprung a leak. Never ends.
