wtnhunt
Took our 11 year old daughter Nicole for the youth hunt over the last weekend in October. Wanted to post about it and share the video sooner, but just now getting to it. She had opportunites on a buck that she decided she wanted to take, but she could not quite get it together. I have been hesitant to let her shoot anything more than her .22, most older members here know what she has been through. She had never been as the hunter so this was her first time. We almost got a kill shot on film, but I think maybe she is not quite ready to squeeze the trigger on animal or maybe she was just too shook up. She said she was too nervous to shoot even though she had the crosshairs steady on the buck right behind the shoulder. That is ok though, would rather her be sure and shoot when she is ready, could not be anymore proud of her and I am not going to pressure her into taking a shot. We had a lot of fun, saw plenty of activity and had a great time together. Shot a little video, never could tell positively if he had brow tines on both sides or not but think he had one on his right which would have made him a 7 point. Christina says that this deer really wants to get shot. lol.
Maine Hntr
That's good stuff wtn.. I have 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 yr old daughters and can't wait to get them a little more involved in the outdoors. Congrats to you for getting all involved and not forcing them to do anything they don't feel comfortable doing.
Ohiobucks
Good stuff William. My 13 year old daughter has mentioned her wanting to hunt several times, but when it comes down to target shooting the 20 gauge, she balks. Maybe I'll get her out there with the crossbow... Shaun_300
Great video William, I'd be proud too! She'll shoot when she's ready, no rush. That's great she got out though and got to experience what she did!
MUDRUNNER
Looks like good times William! I've had my daughter (8 yo) out a few times, but haven't got a chance for her to see a deer yet.

Yeah Tom, 20 gauge with slugs might be a bit much for her unless you tried managed recoil. Fortunately we are able to use rifle here and she has shot the .243 enough now that I have complete confidence that she could easily keep it in the vitals at 100 yards. We just limit her target practices with anything more than her scoped .22.
