Hey everybody! Been a really long time since I've been on here. Quick update on my life. I'm now a police officer in central Illinois. I got hired in

April 2011 and life has been crazy since. I love every minute of it, just haven't had a lot of time to get on here. Hope everyone is doing great!

Now to my story.

This is the first year my dad have run trail cameras extensively. We have an awesome property that we have permission to hunt and had been getting great pictures of 3 really nice bucks. We didn't have a stand in that area, so in the last week of September, Dad and I went and hung a set about 100 yards from one of our cameras.

Now to Oct 2. My first hunt in the brand new stand. It had drizzled on and off all afternoon and about 6:30 the sun started poking out. Next thing I know, this buck is turning the corner and walking right to me. He stops a couple times and works a few scrapes along the field edge, then keeps coming. He got to about 25 yards and I drew. He finally turned and gave me a slightly quartering to shot and I took it. He mule kicked and ran into the timber.

I gave him about 2.5 hours before I went and looked for him. Had an awesome blood trail almost all the way, but we lost it going down into about a 40 foot deep ravine. Well we walked into the ravine and split up and my buddy found him about 10 yards away.

The funny part of this story was the next morning when we went back to get him in the daylight, he had actually climbed the other side of the ravine, died at the top, and then slid all the way back down. LOL

Oh well, that happens. Haha.

He's a 3.5 yr old buck, field dressed at 210 lbs. I grossed him as he is at 132", but he's got 3 inches busted off his left G2 and 5 inches broke off his main beam.

This is only my second buck ever with a bow and first since 2001. He's my second biggest buck ever.

First picture was the night we find him. Last two are the next morning.
