Kevo72
Well it was a windy warm day and I decided I was going to go out and sit in the woods in hopes something would walk by. I sat out there from 2 to 6 pm. I started to walk back to the truck though the cut bean field when I noticed 4 figures walking right at me about 50 yards. It was 4 does. They had no clue I was standing in the bean field. I had only about 10 minutes of legal hunting left. So the only thing I knew to do was get down on my belly. I had a good old military prone position going and just happen to take my crossbow this time. They messed right out of confident range and it got dark quicker it seemed. 20 minutes later I couldn't see anything. They had to have moved within 20 yards or closer because I could hear the crunching as they ate. I remained laying there so I didn't spook them and ruin the spot for future hunts. I didn't hear anything so I stood and walked quietly the rest of the way. Two things were going through my mind. 1 little light and I had to be sure what I was shooting at. 2 making sure I abided by the law. Half hour after dark is off limits and becomes a safety concern! Little bit of military rules of engagement thoughts going through my mind. That was cool!
