Ravin R10 man
Last few days the deer sightings have dropped to almost ZERO! I think bucks are locked down with hot does...and the does are hunkered down so they dont get chased around, because you dont even have the does moving either..it should bust loose here soon..Im ready for gun on Sat. and prob not going to get out much with bow this week..so late season is prob when I will hunt the big boys now..I love the snow and cold it is special to be in the snow that time of year. PotashRLS
Ageed. They are moving late if at all. Warming up for the gun opener though. I like the cold crappy weather to keep guys in camp drinking coffee and playing cards!
dbHunterNY
yea seems the same around here. Sat i'm hunting a funnel above leading down into a thick bedding area that's in a hollow. produces every year on opening morning.... just not always a shooter. wtnhunt
Been cool here, frosts the last few mornings and gonna stay that way for a little while if the forecasts don't change. Highs only getting to the low 50's. Seeing some does with dark stained tarsals and a few still with clean white tarsals. Read before that the ones with the dark tarsals are the ones that are close to or are in, dunno how true that is. Christina and I watched a 2.5 year old buck trotting across the field tracking yesterday afternoon, had watched a doe take the same route the opposite direction just 10 minutes earlier. Doe came back out later on by herself, mature doe and she had clean white tarsals, hmmm? Agree that some of the does are in hiding, tired of being harassed by the teenagers. No doubt the little bucks will still be trying to chase any does they can. Big boys should be acting goofy enough this weekend for us to get one of these kids on one, gotta try to be in the right place at the right time. Not sure if I am taking Christina's boyfriend Saturday morning yet or not, if I am only three setups I am considering and will depend on the wind, if not I will likely be in my ladder stand along the river. Should be some real good activity around that stand, have heard a good bit of chasing down there in the afternoons from my ladder stand up on the hill looking over the field above that area. Ethan Givan
Been super slow here. Weather has been awesome, lows in the 20s and 30s, but the deer movement has been almost non-existant. I have hunted 4 times in the last week, and I have only seen 4 small bucks and one doe. Usually see that many in one hunt. I havent seen much rut activity at all this year, dont know what the deal is.
Ravin R10 man
are looking as we are going to be in the 40's for about the next week..very warm for N Wis. not much for moisture other than Tues. & Wed next week...no snow for sure...we may get into mid teens to 20's for lows...going to dampen what rut we are seeing here..am hunts should be good, but dont think deer are going to move til after dark..thats what they are doing right now
