API T-Screw?

I was reading about tree stands and saw something mentioned about APIs T-Screw used to hang fixed position tree stands. The articles said that the T-Screw makes hanging the tree stand easier and makes the tree stand more stable. What exactly is the T-Screw, I know what the look like, and what do they do? Is this just another way of attaching the tree stand to the tree along with using straps or chains?

Re: API T-Screw?

The t-screw on the lock on stands is pretty nice for hanging them.Basically you just climd up your ladder and screw in the t-screw where you want to hang the stand on the tree. Then you pull the stand up with a rope and slide the stand over the t-screw.This holds it in place until you get the strap around the tree.

The T-screw is a help in hanging the stand, but that is all it may stablize the stand a little bit but the big help is in hanging the stand. I have hunted out of a API baby grand for the last 5 or 6 years and really like it.

that is exactly right , the Tscrew should never be used to help stabilize the stand .. i have 3 API Aluminloc stands that use the Tscrew and they are very handy for hanging stands.. use a bottom rachet strap if you want to stabilize it a little better...

i know of one guy that hung the T screw and then put his stand on it and then stood on it to put the strap on ! good thing he didnt fall ! he thought thats what the T screw was for !
