I am so fortunate and blessed...Yesterday was the 2nd to last day of our archery season....and here's the story and pics for you!

Was hunting a ladder stand that I've been hunting this last week, had a trail cam set up on a scrape nearby. Same stand I shot that small buck twice last weekend and could never find him. About 8:15am a small 6 came in directly at me, could not draw bck, he walked right up to the stand, looked up at me turned and trotted off, stopped around 20 yards quartering away, I drew back and my nerves got me and I didn't settle the pin and shot over his back! Well I decide I'm going to sit until at least 10am and will still have time to do barn chores and get ready for work. I'm sitting there thinking about the miss and tell myself it just wasn't meant to be when I hear the crunch crunch sound of foots steps in the leaves. I look up ahead of me up an old logging road (the ladder stand is set basically where 3 paths intersect) and I see a deer working it's way to me. I stand up and get prepared and I decided to draw early and be ready. He comes around the bend on the trail and I see antlers but didn't pay attention to size or anything and as he turns I let out a "meeehhhh", he stops, I settle the pin on his shoulder and let it fly, THWACK! He jumps, turns up on this bank, falls on an old fence, snaps the wire, gets up and turns and runs down the road that goes about 2 feet from the stand and I see he's got a HUGE rack! I also saw when he had fallen that my fletching was burried right up in him. I start shaking and sputtering "Oh my gosh...oh my gosh....oh Lord please let him go down". He veers off in the wood, I can hear him breathing then a minute or so later I hear a crash. I get down, check the shot site, there's blood, then I go back to the car, drive home which is like 1/4 mile up the road, unload some gear, pick-up my mom because I said there is no way if I go him I can get him in the car myself and the plan is load him on the dolley and I'll ride in the car (Kia sportage) and hold the dolley up and she can drive....lol....that or I'l lcall our neighbor we hunt with. We go back and I start tracking...bright red blood with air bubbles....where he veered off I find a couple saplings soaked in blood...I'm feeling confident, he turnes left, blood covered leaves then there he is, resting up against a large tree, dead as can be and a monster of a buck....After a few pics by my mom (mainly all blurry except one or two and the best one was on self timer), I hauled the beast out which took forever, drove the kia up to the woods edge, got him strapped to the dolley and my mom drove up the road with me holding the dolley. Praise the Lord....I was not expecting a 2nd big archery buck...what a blessing...and on the 2nd to last day of the season! I think I'm going to get him mounted....right now the hide and head are in a bag on the cold cement floor in our garage - anyone know how long I have to get it to a taxidermist?
