Some things I learned this Deer season.....

1 - Hunting is not a life priority. No matter how much I want it to be, in order to have a happy and healthy family, I must consider them and their needs first. I do so eagerly. One phone call can put the entire season in the can, and it just about did for me this year.

2 - Regardless how much planning & scouting you do, there are no guarantees that the world will abide by your plan. I also learned how fun and exciting the pre season activities can be.

3 - Cheap Bino's are not worth it, and turn into monoculars quickly. Looking forward to upgrading.

4 - Even though I only got out for a fraction of the time I had planned, it was still immensely satisfying.

5 - This seasons failure is next seasons motivation.

i can relate to all that... it's easier to scout more, hunt less, and spend more time with family during hunting season. hard enough to make things come together with just luck alone. i'm starting to revert back to my ways that used to be and only hunt with a game plan every time i'm out. if it doesn't look like thing will work then stay home with the my wife. that way when things do look good she won't complain about how you're going out again or give you plans! lol
