Uncle Bucky
Yes, very easy to do, you need a big pan to boil the head in is all, outside on a turkey fryer works best ( for wifes sake) but I do mine inside as my wife is used to seeing this kind of stuff by now LOL Cut off the deer skin, face and ears, Cut off all excess meat you can cut off. Next put in your boiling pot and boil for a hour or so. Remove and leave water boiling. Cut off all meat you can, put back in to boil another hour You will have to also drill a 5/8" hole at the back of the skull to get the boiled brain out Boil until all the meat , grisle and crap is off the skull Now empty boiling pan and refill and add some degreaser and boil cleaned head for 30 minutes Now it should be clean as a whistle Next you'll need to bleach it, which you can do by getting some hair bleach at a beauty supply house Mix up your paste, apply and let sit the recommended minutes your mix tells you Then clean off with the sprayer in your kitchen sink on hot water Let dry and it should be all complete Good luck

bowhunter97
I just put em in an ant pile with a 5 gallon bucket over it with bricks on the bucket to keep out coons and leave them if you have a busy schedule and dont need it right away. You might have yotes up there and they are much stronger than coons and can probably lift the bucket. It can sit on the ants for a few weeks. Bleach it. Then i put a seashell colored paint on it (almost white with a very light tan touch) this makes everything even.
soillap
Bury the head up to the base of the antlers then cover with a bucket. The bugs will naturally pick it clean. That's how we did it in Boy Scouts 20 years ago. Wow that made me feel old. Lol
fly
I boiled mine with borax - took 3 times to get it clean enough. A real pain. Then tooth brushed on 40 volume peroxide i got from a beauty shop. I also did some antler repair from a kit I bought on line. Now that I've done it, the guy down the street with the beetles gets my texas mounts along with 75 dollars.
dbHunterNY
yea bleach can be harsh on the skull... 40 volume peroxide works good. check this video link out.... 12 minutes and 49 seconds in. he shows his whole setup and what he does.... MW12.7: Coming Full Circle | Midwest Whitetail i actually had one of mine get busted. i used a plastic fake skull from Mountain Mikes to do one euro mount and salvaged things. fake skull was a bit bigger than the real one though..... dbHunterNY
...don't leave it anywhere coyotes or neighborhood dogs can reach it. they will run off with them and you'll never get them back! that happens to the first buck i ever shot! still not happy about that. fly
addition: Cover the antler bases with foil - don't want to whiten them!
