Gatorboy
Looking to buy a longterm bow. Like the Mathews and Hoyt brands. Looking to spend 500 to 700 dollars and would like to get input on which models I should look at. Would greatly appreciate any input or suggestions . Thanks and God Bless
VermontHunter
Look at both and choose for yourself ,, it's a personal prefference. ,,,
Turkeygirl
You need to shoot the bow yourself and decide...I also would recommend trying Elite......
ilhnter
You need to shoot them both to see what fits you the best, but I think Mathews is the smoothest shooting bow out there.

PotashRLS
Archery equipment is as personal as it gets when it comes to hunting stuff. Pro shops are the way to go so you can shoot multiple brands and models and compare them side by side. My personal experience is with Hoyt (since 1988) and my current 2012 Rampage XT has been a great bow and is for the most part in your price range. I shot it side by side with most of Hoyt's other bows and it shot just as well, but without the price tag to go with it.

redkneck
Don't over look Fred Bear and Bowtech. Shoot them all and go with what feels right. Don't feel pressured to buy the 700 dollar premium bows, they make them for every price point and I assure you there's little difference in a $700 hoyt and a $500 Mathews as far as their ability to put meat on the ground. You pay a few hundred for the last 20 or so fps ibo rating. Good luck!
WVdeerhunter
Both are good bows I shoot the Katera smooth and fast
KSHoytHunter
Mathews VS Hoyt You definitely need to shoot several. I have the Hoyt Alphamax. I love it. I really love the carbon hoyts but I can't justify the $$$ difference between them and mine.
dbHunterNY
shop now and find left over model year 2012's... shoot lots and pick what fits best (feels most comfortable).
hoosierhunter
Mathews VS Hoyt Shoot the bows blindfolded. It's amazing how much more you feel when your not focused on anything else
redkneck
Shoot the bows blindfolded. It's amazing how much more you feel when your not focused on anything else I've tried that, but I didn't group so well.

bghunter777
Mathews zxt or pick up a used Heli or Z7. I recently shot a hoyt spyder 30 side by side with a Creed and chill the Mathews definately shot better and althought the hoyt did balance well in hand the quality behind the shot is what always sell me on Mathews. dbHunterNY
haven't shot any new hoyts yet. like the RKT cams better than Fuel cams. all the more recent bows from Hoyt up to and including the 2012's shoot pretty well. shot mathews bows too. i like the Z7 Mag. Shot the chill and it was nice too. honestly i don't think anyone makes a bad bow these days.... it's all in what you want for length and feel of everything. this is why everyone says to try them out and get the one that fits best. gentleben
Try bowtech! Im telling ya Bowtech has some great bows and I use to shoot nothing but Mathews, but ever since I got my Bowtech about 6 years ago, I wont shoot nothing but. They are great! soillap
I shoot a high country speed pro 10. It's fast quiet and very forgiving. I bought it last year and shopped three stores and shot at least 20 bows before I decided. So don't get stuck on just a couple of brands try them all. Good luck
kcall
Mathews VS Hoyt I heard this the other day at an archrry shop. "Hoyt is like a Ferrari. Mathews is like a Cadillac" I shoot Mathews and love the draw cycle. It's super smooth but not quite as fast as the hoyts.
hoosierhunter
Mathews VS Hoyt Ford Chevy Benz Beemer I will attest, as I shoot neither a Mathews or Hoyt ,that unless Mathews completely changed their valley to back wall you could blow out a shoulder drawing their bows. They are extremely smooth draws until the cams roll and then you hit a "dead spot" of several inches and then slam into a solid backwall. This isn't really compounded until you draw at 70 lbs as opposed to 60.
robbiethekid
Mathews VS Hoyt I've always shot Bowtech and have been more then satisfied with its results, but if I was to buy another line it would be a Hoyt. Just shot the carbon element and carbon matrix as well as the vector line and I must say I was extremely impressed. Great balance and very nice release. And I agree with turkey girl. Elite bows are something to check. Very smooth and very little sound.
hoosierhunter
Mathews VS Hoyt I shoot the Elite GT500.
hoosierhunter
Mathews VS Hoyt It also seems the shorter the axle to axle length the more "jumpy" the bow becomes regardless of brace height.
RangerClay
You need to shoot the bow yourself and decide...I also would recommend trying Elite...... You will have a tough time finding a Mathews in your price range unless you go with a Mission bow. I'll second the recommendation to try Elite. It will be my next bow. The new line of Bear bows look nice. A couple in your price range. Edited December 3, 2012 by RangerClay
