Ravin R10 man
The Prank call by the Ausie radio hosts has lead to that show being pulled off the air. A light hearted spoof, they pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles and an operator at the hospital puts the call through and when all the hoopla the tv programs made over it..the receptionist that took the call committs suicide. Somehow since she was that emotionally imbalanced..it is now being blamed on them? What a CROCK!
dbHunterNY
i'm sure she was catching flack for it during every part of her daily life causing lots of stress. different culture over there that considered it a big screw up that would be hard to live down. she was emotionally imbalanced enough to take her own life over it yes. the radio hosts were surprised they got through, and given the culture, knew people would be in real deep over it. they should be held accountable for those actions in that regard. it's very possible that she would still be alive if they hadn't have made that call. however, with that said i wouldn't go as far to say they are the reason she's dead. what happened was not their intentions, but more importantly i'm sure in no way could they realistically have known someone would lose their life over it. stevebeilgard
the way i understand it is that the radio couple voluntarily pulled their air time until this settles down a bit. with what imus and stern do on the radio, what they did was a nothing in the big picture. yet, the nurse that gave the information was getting razzed by her peers, which is normal. then, as yo said, she must have been unbalanced and considering suicide anyway. this was just not that big of a deal. wtnhunt
Sad story, could have been avoided. Thought Steve had it right that they voluntarily pulled their air time initially before the suicide even took place. Cannot imagine the kind of crap that nurse caught after she screwed up, guess it was enough to push her over the edge.
PotashRLS
Not sure on protocols and laws across the big pond but here in the states patient privacy laws are very strict and come with considerable punishment by law not to mention civil litigation. I am certain all the health care folks here can share what they know about HIPAA privacy laws. His gal at the hospital likely faced serious reprimand and termination besides the humiliation. If she felt her entire medical career was jeopardized, she wouldn't have to be that unstable to commit suicide. She just needs to do the act before she thinks clearly and decides against it.
