WABS
I guess my question is for AJ, but if anyone else has info on Browning serial numbers and the history behind them I'd appreciate it. AJ, I know you've given me some info prior. However when I go out to the Browning website I have difficulty making sense between what they have their and what I see in the serial numbers that I have. Have have three A-5s: 1) Magnum 12 (32 in barrel full choke) 1V 36714 2) Light Twelve - gold trigger 5G 99213 3) Sweet Sixteen Gauge R13231 Appreciate any info

AJ
Re: Dating my A-5s? This is what the Blue Book says: 1) 1V = 1961 2) 5G = 1965 3) R13231 = 1954 BUT it is a Standard 16 not a Sweet 16. Sweet 16 had Serial numbers beginning with S. I will give you a copy of the S/N info at the shoot.
WABS
Re: Dating my A-5s? That's pretty much the way I read it too AJ, but my one problem is that my Dad's gun (1V-XXXXX) was purchased used in about 1962 and it looked pretty used then (much more than a year old). Now it is possible that my Dad doesn't remember the year exactly. Appreciate you verifying what I was reading. Sometimes this old brain sees what it wants to see rather than what is there. By the way if I want to say Sweet 16 I'm going to say SWEET 16 :-)
