Outdoor shows

I can remember bringing this subject up many years ago here and almost being ostracized for saying the same things quoted here today. As far as I am concerned the videos have come pretty much full circle like a dog chasing it's tail. They all start to look alike and sound alike with the same editing tricks and even going as far as playing follow the leader with where and what is hunted. At the same time we are bombarded with the constant marketing of the new and improved of what we NEED to kill an animal.

Little of the shows are related to our real life experience except for having an animal show up and pulling the trigger. Hunting for most of us in the everyday is far different just as the rest of what the boob tube displays.

Most of the shows are horrible no doubt, and I cant stand watching them. The hunting personalities are fake in my opinion too, I dont like most of the big name "hunters" that are actually more like actors than anything. Midwest Whitetail with Bill Winke is about the only one I like to watch, mostly because it is actually educational and I can learn from it. He doesnt push the sponsorships too much either. I also buy any Knight & Hale hunting DVDs I can find. That right there is just a couple of good ol KY boys hunting stuff. You wont hear them talk about passing a 140 inch deer because its only 4.5 year old I guarantee that.

I don't like the loud music stuff either, at least the really heavy metal/rock type of stuff which I think is dumb on a hunting show,lol. Just last night there was a hunting show on and I changed because the music at the intro was obnoxious.....

There ya go..one of my biggest turnoffs...or they put some twing twang on a guitar because he is hunting on the show..and everything is now a "contest" type show can "team so and so" do it??..well frankly...I dont care!
