texastrophies
The 2013-14 New Mexico regulations are out. http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/publications/documents/rib/2013/2013BGRIB.pdf March 20th deadline for applications with results by April 24th. New Mexico is still limiting the tags to 6% for non-resident do it yourselfers and no cow elk hunts and no hunting on WMA's. Make's it tough to justify spending the money to apply as a NR with such dismal odds of drawing. I probably will apply anyways, but without much hope of drawing. colorado bob
Thanks, TX. I need to put the better half in for the Gila. I've got to see what the fire did down there. What's the % for NR using an outfitter? Do you know? It's slim odds but you have to have your name in the hat to get drawn. At least that's what I tell myself, especially when I buy a PowerBall ticket. Bob
pointing_dogs_rule
They still have me pissed off. Maybe some day.... but I'll concentrate on other states for the usual tags. I will give New Mexico money for one type of tag. good luck to all the dog
texastrophies
Outfitters get 10% of the tags and both residents & NR are allowed to apply.
AJ
Even residents have a hard time drawing decent tags, so I find it hard to have sympathy for non-resident hunters. In fact in 2011 I did not draw any tags. I applied for deer, elk, pronghorn, oryx, and ibex, with three hunt codes per species, and drew nothing. What many don't realize is the draw is for public land hunts. There are private land tags available from landowners. These tags are not counted in the draw. You can get them from outfitters or landowners. The downside is they do not go cheap.
