The Bug House
The city of Burlington VT (If you call a college town of 42,000 a City) has jumped on the bandwagon and banned "assault rifles". Not really all that surprising considering that it's known as "The West Coast of New England". However, when you ban a gun in what may be considered the gun friendliest state in the Union, interesting things happen. COEngineer
Interesting. Someone brought up a similar point about the NY law. Nearly every police officers' weapon holds more than 7 rds, so now every police dept has to buy revolvers??
wtnhunt
That is interesting. Got to kinda wonder in these places that have passed these mag restrictions and "assault weapon" bans where leo's share ranges when they run into the everyday shooter at the range who maybe forgets he/she has the 10 rd mag or does not realize now that it is illegal now to have that thumbhole or pistol grip gun with him/her, if they are going to do anything? Can see where ranges might want to cut the leo presence.

I'm willing to bet many of the officers are members of the club. I'm not even sure this range is within city limits, which would make "Assault Rifles" completely legal there. PotashRLS
This would be an EXCELLENT way to take a stand nation wide. I know that our Sheriff's Dept. trains at an outdoor range owned by a local sportsmans club. While not a direct blow to addressing the big problem it would be a "papercut" that really ticks folks off and sends a collaborative message. This has merit in many ways. Ravin R10 man
Dont matter what they :Ban"..the criminal still has theirs and no way are they going to turn them in...downsize mags..or if it comes to...Register them
Adjam5
Im lovin it. A well thought out meaningful response to knee jerk reactions. Just make sure now, that since the range said no to LE's...a environmental officer from the town or state don't show up now and start saying..Well, there is a lot of lead contaminating the ground here. That could undermine the plan if the range is made to do soil remediation. Something they may have tolerated since the police trained there.
