hoosierhunter
That's about where the good news ends. The cost is around 1100.00 per camera!!!! From talking directly with Reconyx, this unit was created more for law enforcement than the outdoor community. That makes sense bc the govt will not care about the price. I urged them to create more of a communication system between cameras as opposed to cellular. I do know there are several models currently in the works, but details are tight lipped on that. Maine Hntr
So I'm assuming the camera sends a signal to your cell phone via cell towers? What do you mean communication between cameras? The cameras talk to one another vs. cell phone? They're probably making a pretty hefty profit on the $1100 cameras, granted there is more there than a standard camera the technology has been there for years... hoosierhunter
New Cellular Reconyx Yeah it send a text message to your phone with every picture. There are similar cameras available for 350-550. My idea is more like wireless connectivity. Where cameras transfer pictures to a "home" unit and you gather all the pictures there. No intrusion on your property and no data plan to pay. Buckeye has this technology but again it's way too expensive.
Rhino
A text with every picture :jaw: NO THANKS!!! With 9 Reconyx cams out in MO we were getting on average ~15,000 pics a week. No way my cell phone batteries, not to mention my sanity, would hold up to that many text messages binging in on my phone. BTW...here's a video of the new things Reconyx is coming out with new cams this year. Briefly they will be smaller, offer a white flash model for those that want night time color pics, and now will be able to take video footage. redkneck
I'm with you Al. Had that discussion with a guy trying to sell me one at the 'ganza last year. I wanted to tell him apparently he never dealt with trail cams much. 1) I don't need text messages at midnight every time a possum walks by. 2) like you said, thousands of texts a week would suck! 3) what freaking good does out do to know a big much just walked by? Are you going to take off and try to catch him? Lol There was one advertised a coulee years ago where you could log into a website each night and find your pics uploaded, that was a much better option. Imho
hoosierhunter
New Cellular Reconyx The price also went to 599.00 for the new one I believe.

Ravin R10 man
Even if I could justify having one..dont know I'd want that many texts, sometimes I dont even turn my cell on for a couple days at a time, and I have to sit and clean house
hoosierhunter
New Cellular Reconyx Well I can say you get what you pay for. One of my cameras failed and is in for repair. I called today to check in on the progress and found out that the repairs were significant but made free of charge. I'm over a year outside of my warranty and they fixed it for free!!!! So yes they are expensive but they take care of their customers.
Ravin R10 man
My cuddebac needed repair last fall, so I called the Co. the cost of repair would have equaled the cost of the cam, they gave me an upgrade option also...I sold it to one of my deer corn customers, (with info Co. gave me to fix it), and bought anther Wildveiw instead. Cuddy ate Batt. compared to my Wildveiw.

Got an email yesterday that they had fixed it & were sending it back. They fixed it for free too.
wtnhunt
Spy point I thought had a remote unit that worked with at least one camera, are they expandable? Their price was not that high. Market for that at that price would be geared more towards the "pro's". Wireless dvr technology with remote units/cameras has been around a while, dunno why more cam manufacturers have not gone there, but guessing they will. Wireless home surveilence systems could potentially be used. Last I checked those systems can be bought starting for around $300, however the range for them is limited and you would have to have power supply for that type dvr if it was not centrally located where you had a power source. Since our property is here behind our home, kinda been considered picking up a wireless dvr setup. I know for sure our mineral site is well within range, but think I might wait to see how much things might improve with these new setups. Burkef1
Wow wow wow all that for a deer camera sounds kinda steep to me. I get everything I need from my 150 dollar moultrie camera. But it isn't the black flash one but I do notice I usually only get one good night picture of each deer I be it has something to do with the flash.
