Scbasshunter
If I buy a couple of bags of corn now, will it still be good and bring deer in in August?
redkneck
Basically, no. Without controls I'm afraid it will mold.
Ravin R10 man
All depends where you keep it..and is it dry now? If you can put it in a barrel with a god tight lid, keep the moisture out it should be ok
redkneck
I'm sorry, I just have to ask, why would you want to buy corn and hold it for 8 months?
wtnhunt
I'm sorry, I just have to ask, why would you want to buy corn and hold it for 8 months? lol. kinda wondered the same. Don't think wally world clearance's "deer" corn, but maybe they do. So long as the corn stays dry it should keep.
dbHunterNY
if it's dried and sealed in the bag it should be fine. if it's high moisture corn and something from a bulk source that you're just throwing in a bag it won't. it'll heat up and mold. those couple bags of corn will bring in the deer though.... for about four days if you're lucky. if you want to draw them in during the month of August you're better off with minerals. Quite a bit cheaper. Some states don't let you hunt over it though so check first. wouldn't want to put minerals down and have a site started and thus make a good spot not legally huntable. WHISKEYSWAMP
I bought some from walmart a couple winters ago on clearance... I kept it in my shop which generally stays cool and dry. It was fine the following winter.
msman825
I buy it by the tons, keep it in a warm dry place it will be fine. barrel/trash can would keep the rats out. Why not just dump it out and put a camera up to look at some after season deer.
