archerjg
I'm looking at ordering a customized RRA Varmint model in the 24" barreled version with a few customizations to it. All the reviews I've read have Rock River as a top notch AR that is very accurate. Gonna Top it with a Burris MTAC 3.5 - 10 X 42 scope. Any experience that any of you have with them? Any Problems? Right now the wait is 6 - 8 months. Gonna order within the next day or two. Archerjg
wtnhunt
Good luck with the wait. lol. Had a few things done with my dpms lr 308 back when I ordered it and it took over a year. That was back in 2008. At that time rb precision http://www.rbprecision.com/ had the best prices going, might be worth checking with them if you have not already committed. I really like my RR varmint, it is the 20 inch model, have a burris fullfield 3-9x40 on it. Only downside to the gun is the weight, not a gun you really want to tote around for long walks. No issues with the gun itself whatsover and YES it is very accurate. Mine really likes 55 grain soft points, get as good if not better groups from the ultramax as what I do black hills premium stuff. dbHunterNY
that gun will be heavy like william said. with that setup i'd get a Magpul PRS stock too. you couldn't get it on william's lr308 but the ar-15 setup you can. not sure what route you're going. i'd definitely order it sooner than later if you're planning on getting one, or you may be in the same boat us NY staters are in. archerjg
DB it's going to be a varmint and a target rifle for the most part. May have some other duties later on. I wanted the longer bull barrel and the weight doesn't bother me as it won't be carried for miles. The magpul PRS stock is an addition for later most likely. Archerjg i hear ya... i think my varmint rifle is around 15 lbs. the PRS stocks are nice especially if you've got larger dia optics and just for adjustability. they're like a $250 upgrade though. LETMGROW
With any luck you might get the one I ordered a couple days after the Newtown tragedy. I was told then 9-12 months but probably longer. Now being a resident of NY it may be never. I'm waiting to see what the manufacturers do. They aren't going to stop making these guns. Watch for a modified version without the pistol grip and flash suppressor and a 7 round magazine. This may become really interesting. I have shot many AR-15 guns. IMO the pistol grip was useless. I'd rather have an AR without it anyway. The flash suppressor is good at night while hunting coyotes but I can live without it. I own a machine shop and I know a little about fabricating things. Magazines aren't a concern to me. NO! I am not taking orders. Lynn
WABS
Guys I just picked up a RR LAR8 A4 and would be interested in what to top it with optics wise. Any suggestions? I'll be doing a little deer hunting with it and some coyote hunting.

Put a nikon monarch Nikon 8409 Monarch Riflescope 2.5-10x42 - BDC Reticle - Silver on my dpms 308. Have a burris 3-9x40 bplex on my rock river varmint. WABS
Absolutely love the Nikon Monarch as well...have 2 on other rifles already. Any recommendations for a scope mount?

wtnhunt
Any recommendations for a scope mount? Depends on what you want and on what you need for your gun. Have burris tactical rings on my .308. Had to go with a one piece mount on my RR varmint to get the eye relief right.
