The Bug House
Well, another trip to camp has come and gone, and despite great weather, great ice conditions, and great fishing..... the CATCHING was just awful!!! Went with 2 friends this year and managed to get away for 4 nights. Enjoyed cobbed smoked bacon and venison with some other exotic game meat as well. It usually turns into quite the culinary fest. We literally had bait in the water the entire time we were there. Decided to target Pike this year, as I've had good luck in the past. And set all the tip-ups with Pike bait of varying sizes. Spoke to a couple of guys who came down the road and they mentioned the Lake Trout and Smelt have been epic this year, but almost no Pike that they'd heard of. We did manage to jig a few perch into the fryer......but other than that, nuthin'. And yet we still managed to have a great time. Looking forward to next year, but in the meantime.. BRING ON SPRING! Shaun_300
I was out on the weekend with my cousins, we ended up getting a 5 1/2 pound walleye, a few pike only 2 1/2 - 3 pounds each, 5 pound whitefish and a few jumbo perch. One of my aunt's father and uncle are up from Ohio for a few weeks to fish, they've been doing alright too, her uncle caught a 12 pound pike one day last week.
