johnf
The land that I hunt on has a big coyotee probem that only seems to get worse every year. This morning around 7:30 I was using a bleat call to try to call in a doe that I knew was in the area last week. After several attempts to call her in a mature coyotee made a bee line in to my stand. He stood there for about 30 seconds and just looked at me. He had been yelping for awhile befor I saw him so I figured there weren't any deer close so I put one between his eyes. What would you have done in this situation? Also sence it was still relatively early in the morning and there were shots going off probibly within 300yards of me 10-15 minutes after I shot the coyotee I decided to stick around in my stand for the rest of the morning. Would you have shot the coyotee and if so, would you have gone home after the shot, or stuck around in hopes of a little deer momvent? BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: To shoot or not to shoot? That is the question put one between his eyes excellent choice... there are many managment techniques and this is one of em I trully believe if its legal in your state any chance you get ...whack em I hate them damm things.... its not about deer but what about geese, ducks, pheasant, wuail, turkeys, the list is endless you trully did the right thing and I would have too ... also I would have stayed in the stand also never know what happens ... I mean unless you got somewhere else too be...

David_218
Re: To shoot or not to shoot? That is the question Down in Kentucky, where I hunt, I always hear several shots off in the distance and wonder how those Hunters are seeing so many Deer. Well I found out that most of those shots were directed toward Coyotes. Kentucky encurages hunter to thin out the Coyote population so the Turkey population won't be affected by preditation. AJ
Re: To shoot or not to shoot? That is the question I also would have dropped the coyote. And I would also stay on stand. I may have moved the coyote downwind of me or out of the area, depending on how stinky he was.
johnf
Re: To shoot or not to shoot? That is the question When I got out of the stand around 11:30 I drug him off about 150 yards from my stand. And shot another that evening. puffy
Re: To shoot or not to shoot? That is the question Stack'em up partner, those four legged garberators will not only drive out your deer but if they pack up like some I've seen they take down deer as well. Its great practice for that evening sit.
johnf
Re: To shoot or not to shoot? That is the question They killed a cow and calf last year on the farm as she was giving birth. I think I'm gonna take my 22 pistol out next time. I'ts a lot cheaper kill.
