sdempcy
I'm an open range hunter from nebraska and would like to hear some ideas on how to start up a dear plot on public land in northwest Florida, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Ravin R10 man
If you have access to a wheeler, small tractor and implements to pull behind, a power/gas line may be the best place to start a plot, other wise any semi open ground will work. Roundup soil test, lime and fertilize. Can be done with hand tools for a small plot like a throw and grow type seed blend.
wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Don't know about plots on public land. Would check with your wildlife office before doing anything, some public ground does not allow any equipment not even for recovering animals. redkneck
Welcome to the forums! I'm with William on that, even if you can plant on public land I'm not sure why you'd want to? Best to scout and find a place and hunt the food and cover that's already there.

sdempcy
Thanks for the input guys, probable going to do some serious recon with a camera and see if I can find some patterns, hopefully I can see some trends. Any thoughts on how early I should start?
wtnhunt
Right now is a great time to be looking at sign and deciphering patterns and travel routes, however Florida is not quite the same as it is here. Far as a camera, they are great for giving you an idea of what is around.
