New Position for me

I have been a member of NY Bowhunters for about 12 years and have gotten involved in hunting issues in my county for quite a while now. That led to me becoming a county rep for NYB. I have been helping out in hunter ed courses, organizing our counties first Nat'l Hunting and fishing day( with NYB handling the archery for that day), worked with the injured and disabled to teach archery at an area rehab hospital several times a year, served the homeless venison meals at a shelter with other sportsmen in NYC during the holiday seasons, gone to countless meetings with legislators in my county regarding issues involving the outdoors or shooting sports, helped plan/organize the Friends of the NRA dinner here and I try to take someone new hunting each year.

I can go on and on about how important it is for me to give back and how I do it.

A few months ago I was asked by the President of NewYork Bowhunters to come aboard and run in a election to become an officer. I accepted and won that election. This past weekend I spent at Canadaigua lake in WAY upstate NY( 6.5 hour drive for me). There NYB had its annual banquet and fund raiser. I was made a Board of Director for NY Bowhunters. We are the largest organization in NYS representing over 3500 paid members throughout the state. NYB runs youth camps helping kids get their hunter ed certificate and the Camo to Camo program for sending our troops boxes of various items to help them smile a bit while in the sandbox. That is just a bit of what NYB does.

So now as a officer I will need to work even harder to protect the outdoors and spread the word of how great hunting is!

I must say...watching the generosity of some on this board encouraged me to go out and help other like mided people who love the outdoors and hunting. Thank you.

If your a New Yorker and bowhunt...You should belong to NYB.

That's great Anthony. I admire your generosity with your time to such admirable things you listed. You're a good man!

When you gonna join TX bow Hunters Assoc? Lol

Your gonna laugh John...But Tink already asked me to :). He runs a bunch of bow shoots in the area and in our conversations...he asked me to join. Corey from here already has gotten me on Texasbowhunters.com

I'm loving that site! Thanks Corey!

Right man for the job...but I thought you were moving toTexas?

Yes, I am moving to Texas...But not right now. I have about 6 more years to put in until I can retire. That will give me 35 years in NYC electrical construction. I'd say that is enough in ANY business. Let alone construction. My son Joe just got back from our Texas property and he did some hunting there too. The Rios wouldn't cooperate or the Axis...But the hogs did. He shot a nice big sow on our neighbors land in Harper.

Thanks for the congrats guys.

New Position for me

That's great! Glad to hear you're group is supporting the NRA. In IL the IL-NRA has been advocating for crossbow inclusion in part of the general archery season - the IL Bowhunters group put up the biggest roadblock, but fortunately they were not successful.

I support the NRA Fly...Not NY Bowhunters. NYB supports the second amendmant and we stick to archery ONLY issues. But. NYB did make a stand and come out against the recent NYS draconian gun laws and the publishing of pistol permit holders names and address online.
