hoosierhunter
UNREAL..he breaks a rule but because its Tiger its ok. I disagree. I'm fine with the ruling and how they handled it. It's the media blowing this thing up.
Muff
The rules say he signed the score card knowing it was wrong.....he should have been DQed....I would bet anyone else would have been.

kudu88
theres Golf rules Then I guess we have Tiger rules Actually muff the rules committee at Augusta decided before tiger finished his round that he had not violated any rules so when he signed his card it was correct at the time. It was only until the next morning that he was penalized. So according to the rules if Augusta had notified Tiger before the end of his round Friday then the penalty for playing a ball from the wrong spot is 2 shots not DQ. The club then decided that because of their failure it was not fair to disqualify Tiger because of their mistake but that the 2 shot penalty was correct because it was the original penalty for the infraction
pointing_dogs_rule
Tiger dropped the ball two yards further away "to gain an advantage". As Nick Faldo stated... that's a violation of the rules. Tiger even admitted to this after the round in a press conference. If this tourney is about the "honor of Bobby Jones" then he should have done the right thing. good luck to all the dog
kudu88
theres Golf rules Then I guess we have Tiger rules And Tigers advantage was taken away with the 2 shot penalty. That is the prescribed penalty for playing a ball from the wrong spot/dropping in the wrong spot. The rules were applied fairly.
pointing_dogs_rule
So let me get this correct. 1. Do the wrong thing (knowing he intentionally gained an advantage.. he even stated so), and sign your card and hope you do not get caught. 2. do the wrong thing (knowing he intentionally gained an advantage.. he even stated so), and after you get caught then get penalized. Hey all golfers (me included) let's all cheat and that's all right as long as we do not get caught. Do the words "honesty & integrity" mean anything anymore in the game of golf?? As many professionals are saying the rules were once "black & white", now they are "gray". If you ever want to golf Kudu.. lets do it. I bet I will have a score of 18 on 18 holes..... unless you catch me cheating. By the way people would call be a "duffer" on the golf course. good luck to all the dog
hoosierhunter
theres Golf rules Then I guess we have Tiger rules Way to much tv coverage to knowingly break the rule and hope to not get caught. Your letting your personal golfer preference cloud your objective thinking. The correct decision was made according to the rule book. He didn't knowingly sign an incorrect card. It was deemed ok and then refilled otherwise. That's what the new rule was implemented for.
Muff
Nope sorry I just dont buy it....any other golfer would have been DQed.....I bet pressure from the networks and the media made them let him stay....I am not a Tiger hater....he is one of the best golfers ever and very exciting to watch.....BUT I just cant take how the media and networks are so far up his butt....they make watching him no fun....like today he is on 17 I think 4 or 5 behind....and they say well he still got a shot he...REALLY not a chance in heck.....and the other thing the REALLY bugs me is when someone is checking out there shot and they say things like "well tiger had a shot from here yesterday"??????? who the heck cares???? drives me NUTS
kudu88
theres Golf rules Then I guess we have Tiger rules I too am an avid golfer. I've been playing the game for over 15 years and as I watched the **** and replays I can honestly say I thought Tiger was correct in where he dropped it. My thinking was in a straight line from the hole through the last spot the ball crossed the hazard. Jim Furyk put one in the lake from close to the same spot not 20 minutes earlier and moved back and took his drop. Of course I was wrong. The ball last crossed the hazard from the green side of the lake after it hit the flag. Furyks ball went in the lake on the fly. Hence my confusion with the rule. Now I can honestly say I've never encountered the situation Tiger did but under the circumstances I get he was flustered. All I'm saying is if I was confused and I had no vested interest I understand if he overlooked where the ball last crossed the hazard in the middle of the tournament.
