dbHunterNY
Not sure if anyone has done a thread on this in a while at least. Saw a quilt at my parent's house the other day with a picture from back when i took my first deer. Used a Win Model 94 30-30, trebark camo jump suit, and a kitchen chair out in the woods to take my first deer, a 6 point buck. lol So you have a picture of your first buck or deer? Ravin R10 man
Dont think I got a pic of my first, it was a spike shot in the 1973 Gun season with a 30-30 iron sights right at last light, while sittting on the ground, leaning up against a fence post, watching an alfalfa field. He came in right behind me and I had to swing around between the wires, all I remember is the muzzle flash, and he dropped in his tracks with a neck shot at 20 yards. Dad said he heard me from half mile away "whoopin":toot: it up...lol Edited April 23, 2013 by Mathews XT Man

wtnhunt
I started trying to hunt in 1992. First one was in 1994, still my best scoring deer to date. Unfortunately the field pics did not turn out too well, camera operator error. I knew nothing about hunting, pretty lucky. Long story short my parents black lab followed my trail and I decided to move because the dog would not leave. I had left a trail of tinks dominant buck urine from another spot I had sat as it got light. Climbed up into little stand I had built onto a tree, got a pic of that somewhere too. The deer snuck in behind me, I had to raise up and turn to get the shot off, shot the deer with a 7.62x39 hollow point with open sights at about 35 yards. Remember it like it was yesterday, was a very light foggy drizzle and cool but not cold. Deer went 3 steps and fell. Killed that deer less than 200 yards from where our house sits. I ran all the way back to my parents house and my step dad did not believe me when I told him I killed my first deer. Did not even know how many points he had. I got a pic somewhere of the deer in the back of my truck. Here is a pic of the mount, the one in the middle with the plaque.
dbHunterNY
yea i remember mine very well too. the chair i shot it from ended up getting replaced by a little platform i built up in an adjacent group of three trees. over a decade later and the stand is located a little further up the ridge, still in sight of the original spot. most reliable stand on the whole farm. Turkeygirl
I'll have to see if I have a pic somewhere....My first buck was my second year hunting, shotgun season. Was standing just inside the woods edge watching a corn field, one man drive of a thick swamp. This 3 point came running out, stopped in front of my in the corn and I squeezed the trigger. Ran into the woods above me. Had snow so easy tracking job. Have the antlers on my wall still:)
dbHunterNY
that's a nice first buck Rhine. like the scrap booked story. yea there turkeygirl i wish i had mine. set them on a turned over 5gal pale in the garage. the doors were left open and i think a neighborhood dog must have claimed them and buried them somewhere. :bang:
wtnhunt
Had to scan the 35 mm photo. Tried playing with the contrast and brightness and just not much better. Pic really did not do the deer justice. Same deer in the middle in my previous reply.

RangerClay
Had to turn on the Wayback Machine for this one. Opening day 1981 and I was 16 years old. I'm the one in green and I shot the 5 point on the right. I can still remember that day like it was yesterday.
