What are you replacing or upgrading this year?

Bow season will be upon us before we know it. What equipment are you planning on replacing /fixing/or getting to improve safety?

Andy, Ash, and I are replacing a few stands, for better comfort seat wise, and screw in steps are being replaced by climbing sticks, rather than relying on a branch, or using too few steps.

Plus we are installing Lifelines on our sets also, along with our HSS vests.

I'm already in the process, lol. My bow is down to a guy in PA for a new set of strings and a tune, having a QAD HDX rest installed also that I good for a good deal on AT. I also picked up a Kodak Playsport for a great deal off AT with a bow mount to boot so going to work on trying to video my hunts. Got a 1/2 doz. Beman ICS Hunter arrows for hunting season. Won a set of climbing sticks at a 3D banquet so will make use of those;)

I will be replacing one of my stands. I have an API that's about 15 years old that is starting to look a little rough. Thinking about a new Gorrilla or Millennium. I also need to get a ground blind so I can take the kids a few times this season. I need one more pack of Slick Tricks, and should be good to go.

Haven't really thought much about it yet except I'll get 4 or 5 more hang on stands & stick sets. Might get another New Millennium 21' ladder or 2. After closing on another 457 ac. in MO this past Dec., we knew we'd need some more stands for the additional land we have there. Need to get another 100' to 200' of drag rope to pull deer out of some of the deeper bottoms with the Polaris EV from high ground. Found out the 200' we already had wasn't enough last year. Other than that no other plans yet. Most of our stands in MO were new last year so no safety concerns with them. Already got rid of some older stands in MS and I have 2 HSS too. Bought a new Bowtech Invasion last year & backed off to 63# pull. Still good to go with it.

Every year I swear I'm getting a new quiver but I can never make up my mind. I'm going to Cabelas this summer, hopefully I will find something I like.

I have a new piece to bow hunt on and I'm giddy as heck about it. Will be setting up some stands this summer.

My biggest project this summer however will be my daughter. She will turn the legal age to bow hunt in October. I will be investing her new rig.

For the first time in decades (I'm not telling how many) I am going to make some major changes. I am at the point where I need to supplement my arrow supply and will be switching from my old standard Easton aluminum to Easton's new carbon injection arrows (mail-in rebate brings the cost down to $59.99 per half dozen), but will stick with the three blade Muzzy broadheads. I will replace the string and add a string loop, which means there will be a change in my release from a bearing style to a Tru-Fire Hardcore Buckle Fold-back. The final change will be to dump the Whisker Biscuit and go with a QAD Ultra-Rest HD. By the September 7th archery opener I should be ready to sling arrows with precision. The only downside is that it will be some costly changes, but then it's only money.

I need a new string and was thinking about upgrading the camera I take with me. Other than that there is not a whole lot I need. Maybe a new quiver if I can't fix the one I have. I'm hunting more and more on the ground and looking to unload some of the loc ons I have. I'm going to do a yard sale more than likely. Anything left I'll put for sale online.

Last week I received the newest Bowhunter magazine. They featured the latest and greatest equipment for 2013. From bows to boots and everything in between. My first thought was how can any of us afford to hunt. Bows over $1000, arrows at $50-60 a HALF dozen, trail cameras $250 or more. I own a great bow that I just love to shot and hunt with that I WON in a contest on this site several years ago. Would not own this bow if I had to pay for it; could not have afforded it. Know these manufacturers have a lot of R & D money tied up in their products but when are they going to realize not all of us are company CEOs? :(

Thats my rant for today. Enjoy life in the woods and be careful.
