Ravin R10 man
How is the planting going where you are? Nobody has put anything in the ground that I know of here, much less gotten out into the fields yet...we are two weeks late, with standing water. What is going on in your area? whitetailfreak55
Farmers were disking here a week ago and then it rained so they took a break. Not sure if anything has happened since then or not
MUDRUNNER
Farmers are way behind schedule here due to the rain and flooding. I think we're about 8" above normal on rainfall already this year. I haven't seen a single field that's planted yet. Last year by this time most corn fields were up 6 or 8". It looks like there will be a lot of crops in when bow season starts up this year. wtnhunt
Corn corn and more corn, most is up 2-3 inches. Was surprised to see corn on top of corn back to back years in a couple fields. Cannot remember there being corn planted in as many fields around us in years past.
dbHunterNY
corn is all in around here. hay fields are growing, but nothing newly seeded. garden has been neglected along with a couple food plots. those are on the list within the next couple weeks. Ravin R10 man
Nobody has turned a wheel here yet...snow squals today and high in 40's with high NW wind..fields are extremely wet...dont think you could walk across them without bringing half of it back on your boots! dlriggins
Very few crops in, we had about two days last week and some got in but low areas and rain saturated soil make it rough.

redkneck
Wet as wet can be in MS. I'm not in the corn belt of the state but I'm sure the delta is drenched.
LETMGROW
A lot of corn is in and some 1" or more out of the ground. Talked with a manager of a large farm nearby and they should have been done yesterday but got rained out. They would have been done Saturday but had a problem with seed. They filled the planter with seed and fertilizer Friday night at 10:30 and when they came back 7:00 Sat. AM the seed hoppers were completely empty. They found out who did it and by the time they got through with police reports and getting most of the seed back they ran out of time. There was over $3000 value put on the seed. 16 row seeder filled with RR seed. The investigation is continuing so I can't say too much. They do have over 600 acres in though. I've done some spraying but haven't hurried. They are predicting below freezing temps Monday night. Rain = Mud. It rained hard this morning. Looking better for mid-week. Maybe I'll get going then. Tominator
There was a mad scramble around here last week, but that's the most action I've seen all season. We got a fair bit of rain Thursday/Friday. I got 1 plot of sweet corn and taters in the garden, but that's it so far.

Tominator
Rode the Oliver for close to an hour the other day and my food plot is almost ready to plant. I'm just flat out of time. Class last night, dinner tonight. Hopefully I'll plant on Saturday. I hope to get some other stuff in the garden too.

Turkeygirl
Well the really big farm the owns about 1/2 the county has been plowing and planting the last few weeks. Some of the small farms I noticed started in this last week. And as usual the one farm that we lend use of our field to, they haven't anything yet. It's a matter of time before they go under, completely. There land was where I hunted my entire hunting life until last year the big farmer in the area bought it all when it was taken by the bank. But can't complain when hunting a smaller piece down the road and tagging 2 big bucks! We have peas and onions planted and most of our veggie gardens are tilled, most planting will be done next weekend. whitetailfreak55
Looks like all the farmers here are gonna have to replant after the rain we've been getting. There is no way out of our town. Every highway bridge over the rivers are flooded over or the water is going over the highway. We had a heck of a time getting home last night we just made it past one of the river crossings and the water was in the right lane. As soon as we got by the dot shut the road down. We're under a boil warning and have to conserve water.
whitetailfreak55
The fire department said that our water will not be safe for at least two days. With more rain coming I doubt they will be able to sanitize the water in two days. Fire department is handing out bottled water now
