Turkeygirl
And it's going to be on my side of the state, lol! Guess where this girl is going to be going next year! Cabela's to open Cheektowaga store - Buffalo - Business First
RangerClay
Can't say I'm 100% excited about this. It's located away from most of the population and second now anything I order on-line will be taxed. Should have put the store in Syracuse. Turkeygirl
I can't complain...never get out to the Bass Pro in auburn when they have events and Cabelas in PA is about 5 hours away. At least now I could get to this more readily and who knows, may meet Tim Andrus once and for all. I guess they figure they are going to attract a lot from Ontario... Shaun_300
Awesome! I have a feeling I will be roadtripping to that location quite often!! Finally one close to home.
wtnhunt
Ya know it would be great to have a store close by to visit to see all the mounts and all but I am kinda glad we don't have one in state and we still get to get by without paying the high state sales tax on our cabelas purchases. Tennessee state sales tax is near 10 percent, I like the free or $5 shipping and no tax when I buy online.
Rhino
Cool! Closest Cabela's to me is ~3.5 hours away in Louisiana. Got a Bass Pro ~20 minutes away but their stock on hunting gear isn't really much better than other sporting goods stores. Lots of options on fishing gear though. dbHunterNY
closest cabelas from here is in CT. Not sure if it's for a distribution center or store location but word has it some land has been purchased by them here in the capitol region. Cabelas stock has been climbing for a while. PotashRLS
Are they even going to bother stocking a gun department???
RangerClay
Are they even going to bother stocking a gun department??? Probably but I don't think they realize what NYS does to people who sell guns here.
Turkeygirl
Read an article in the NY Outdoor News...suppose to start building in the fall...I'm excited but who knows what NY might do and make them change their mind...Was suppose to get a Bass Pro few years ago and Buffalo messed that up.... Adjam5
Cabelas happens to be one of the major outdoor gear sellers that have not gouged in the recent demand created by the current administration here and in DC. I am glad they are getting the opportunity to expand.
PotashRLS
The new Cabelas store is slated to open July 25, 2013 in Green Bay. It correlates perfectly with Packers training camp, especially since the Packers own the property and were instrumental in getting Cabelas into the area. Locally they brought 200 new jobs to the area too.
elkoholic
Cabelas is going on a store building spree. They have started construction on one of their outpost stores (about 45,000 square feet) in Kalispell, Montana, which is slated to open by late October of this year. This is a relatively short drive from my house (maybe 1&1/2 hours, max) and I am sure to make the drive too many times after they have opened. PotashRLS
Well hows about that. Let me know and maybe we can chat a while or catch a bite to eat. I work in Green Bay just about every day. Probably want to eat at Curly's Pub in the Lambeau Atrium. Hint hint, wink wink!!!

ruttinbuc
Cabelas is not what it is all cracked up to be. Sure they have everything. I have one 45 minutes away on an off hour. Once the novelty wears off it is just another store. I'll visit if I need to get something oversize that costs too much to ship or if I really need to see the quality of goods first hand. Other than that, I'll save my gas and tax money by ordering online. They are on a building blitz and their prices certainly show it. You can do better at many other online stores for a lot of the same goods. If it is not on sale you probably paid too much.
dbHunterNY
only other thing we've got around here is Dick's Sporting Goods. I'll take a Cabelas out in northeastern NY
