bennelli nova shotgun

well i decided to try the bennelli shotgun and i got rid of my verona sx405 semi automatic as i couldn't get used to shooting a semi and kept tryign to pump the forend back and load another round so i shot one box of shells thru it and decided to take the loss and get the nova.

best move i have made in a long time. i got to shoot it for the first time yesterday and it was too pattern my gun for turkey season. so i bought a primos tight wad choke for turkey and decided to go with what i know which was the winchester supreme hv #6 load.

my first shot at 30 and i would of taken the head of the turkey's head off. i have never seen a pattern on a shotgun like i saw with this set up. the pattern was such that with a shot like this it was tight enough to to remove the head with ease.

i moved back to about 36 yards and shot again and all i could was shake my head the combo was amazing in my eyes s i never had a grouping like this with any other shotgun i have ever owned and shot and patterned. this is an amazing gun and if your looking for a good gun and want a pump i would highly recommend the bennelli nova to anyone. the tight wad is an excellent choke and holds the pattern extremely well and the 3 inch supreme hv shells are outstanding as well.

just an opinion on a few products that we need out in the field as hunters

thanks for reading and hope you like what i wrote

Re: bennelli nova shotgun

Hey, the Nova is a great shotgun, I swear by mine. One question, did you have the recoil reducer installed in yours for patterning the turkey loads, if so, how well did it tame the recoil. I know with mine installed for dove hunting last year I shot all day long and didn't feel a thing at the end of the day.

One thing I can't figure out, I was looking for the choketube you were talking about and pricing, the Primos website lists it for 24.99, Cabelas and Bass Pro list for 19.99. Now, why would the company that makes the product carry it for more than a retail outlet. confused.gif

Re: bennelli nova shotgun

Thats typical. Its to deter people from buying from them and going through their distributors. Its a way of helping their distributors out and it helps the manufacturer by reducing their overhead. They don't have to have as big of a sales group for retail sales. Their shipping department can also be hastled less by sending out many small packages.

The reducer requires a bracket also that you have to install in the buttstock, you are gonna need a long skinny phillips head, longer than normal to get in there but that is for one of the screws, the other one sits high enough for a normal screw driver, then the reducer is slipped into the cylinder in the bracket plus a piece of black tubing they give you to take up extra space. If you are only shooting one or two rounds the reducer won't really be needed, I didn't use it for deer season because of the minimal shots fired, but, I am not a little guy either 5'11'' 265, but I took it out to the skeet range a couple weeks before Dove season last year, I fired 50 rounds and later that night I thought my shoulder was gonna fall off, it definitely hurt more than any other extended shooting experience. I got the reducer and had it in for Dove season opener, I shot off about 100 shells, later that night, not one bit of pain, went back subsequent times, never shot as much as the opening day but still no pain. Trust me, if you shoot off 100 rounds without the reducer, you will definitely feel it later on. That reducer was the best 50 or 60 bucks I have ever spent.

Re: bennelli nova shotgun

I've got a 28" 12 ga. on Timber. The only shortfall of this gun IMO is that the camo does get scratched off relatively easily. If I had known that when I bought it I would have bought black and put the recoil reducer on it with the money I saved.

It does look really good though. smirk.gif

Re: bennelli nova shotgun

i own a nova and i tell you what. i happen to think it is a sweet shooting gun. those who have not shot one before have no clue what they are missing or talking about. lol. when i got mine last year we usde my grandpas and my boxs of shells he had the size 4 and i had size 71/2 shot and they patternd perfectly. wait untill you kill your first bird with it. its like they have done it before. the choke we used was one that fit the benelli berretta and mossburg shotguns.

and the nova makes a great grouse gun lol. grin.gif
