I think with the scoring system we use here which is 5 points for a deer and one point per antler point it puts everyone on an even playing field (or as even as you can get). Puts a 120lb FL ten point on an even level with a 240lb OH stud 10. Not everyone enjoys the same quality or quantity of deer as others. It's all about getting out and enjoying yourself and having a little success in the contest from time to time for bragging rights.

The local hunting forums do the same contests but they also give 1 pt for every doe taken. I think that's a great idea. For us "can't eat horns" hunters. Lol

Contest here has been the same pretty well as long as it has been run. Option for upgrading has seemed to work out well. One other consideration that was talked about at one time was additional points for predators taken.

btw, your count is 67. Only 8 posts to go so you should be ok.

Yea and it dont get all that cold in the winter either. Mid to low 40's if we're lucky. But it is a heck of a time walkin in the knee deep water in some spots to and from the stand in 90 degree weather. It is fun but sure is rough. Much less having to deal with moccasins and stuff.

This place is loaded with cottonmouths. Have seen copperheads and cottonmouths here in December and January before, thankfully they are not usually very active when we hit our firearms seasons. Yeah makes for a lot of fun when you are on your hands and knees looking for blood, especially during our archery season here.
