Jeramie
FYI, It is legal to hunt over millet in Okieland. So here is the deal. My wife and I know a land owner/ farmer/ businessman. Super good people. He has something like 2000 acres of crops. I dove hunted on him last year and it was incredible. I wanted to deer and or waterfowl hunt on him at some point too. He is fairly guarded about his place so it was never an option..... until last weekend we did him a favor. A big favor while they were on a trip. He told my wife that this year he is canceling his leases for duck season and I could hunt two ponds all I wanted. He also said he would plant Millet around the pond for me, just to let him know when would be the time to plant for ducks. Honestly, I’ve never hunted over millet. I typically just sit on farm ponds so I have NO idea. When do you plant Millet? Teal season starts in September and ill probably start hunting then.... wtnhunt
Pretty sure Todd has mentioned planting millet before, but honestly have no clue. Hopefully he will get a chance to check in here and answer back.

Jeramie
Sweet... thanks William. Looks like I need to talk to him about planting now. I want to see just where he is setting me up too.....
Tominator
Pretty sure it is. As I recall the regs state that as long as it pertains to "normal agricultural purposes" it's OK. My buddy plants about 5 acres of sunflower and millet in the summer and mows it off right before dove season. The DNR agent lives two doors down from him and has visited us many times while hunting and he's never had an issue with it. Place I used to hunt in northwest Ohio the property manager planted it all the time, then flooded the fields right before duck season. Again, totally legal. Jeramie
Yeah... its legal here. People do it all the time. I hunt crop for doves every year. Infact the Wildlife Department plants thousands of acres of crops south of me every year for hunters, on public land. The year before last we hunted a corn field they had planted. They left standing stubble in the middle of the field for hunters to use for cover... Thats a pretty clear sign.
