Coach J
I'm trying to decide where to put a couple small food plots for bow hunting. Anything in particular I need to be aware of or keep in mind? I'll be hunting south central oklahoma in amongst cedar trees with timber. dbHunterNY
not sure how much it's different from NW OK, but down in those canyon pockets where your cover is I've had troubles with thermals and swirling winds. so make sure you can put one in and still get setup on it, as well as get in and out without bumping deer. 3whunt
Have hunted around Marrietta, Ardmore, and Madill. Really depends on the particular area your hunting. I'd definately keep in mind the wind and thermals. What town is closest to ya?
abrown
I would say it's going to be based on where's the better soil types!
whitetailfreak55
Yep I would agree with whats said above. Also if you have the resources I would get a soil test done.
WStreblo
Food plot location? I don't hunt over food plots but have put them in just to give deer the food they need... Look into imperial, they give a lot of information. Another good source is Bob Coine at www.heartlandillinois.com He produces a DVD series and is a really easy guy to talk to. I shot him an email one day and we've talked over the phone about some topics including food plots.
