wtnhunt
Food attractants like c'mere deer are not legal here, but have heard of people using it and have heard of mixed results. Wal mart and outdoor stores sell the stuff like crazy despite it being illegal to hunt over, but then they also sell their "deer" corn too. Baiting is a big headache for our warden especially with those type attractants that dissolve, stinks when you know people are cheating and it cannot be proven. That said so long as it is legal where you are, don't see a problem with it. Minerals are legal to use here. Have had pretty good results from most I have used and over the years have used several including mixing my own and also using trace mineral blocks. Best results seem to be with trophy rocks and deer cain. The black magic stuff works well too. The buck jam stuff for block toppers I have tried outside of season and they do not seem to have much draw at all here other than for raccoons. Dawg
What part of the country are you in? I've learned over time that all the attractants in the world won't produce near the results as knowing the woods you hunt. Acorn Rage produced decent results. The deer didn't flock to it but did eat it some. C'mere deer was a joke.....never had a deer pay it any attention. Never tried the BB&J stuff. I used to put out one of those cheap little persimmon mineral blocks that Walmart sells....the deer seemed to like it too. Now I have 3 persimmon trees in my front yard so I just pluck them off and toss em out at the lease. I tried Deer Cane Black Magic one year. It all turned into a big hard clump over time and then eventually dissolved into the ground. About a month after season was over the deer had a hole dug in that same exact spot so I guess they liked it.
dbHunterNY
where I can in locations other than NY I've had great luck with Redmond Inc stuff... Redmond Rock (for equine) or Trophy Rock. They're the same thing.
dbHunterNY
haven't used other more consumed feed type attractants. only whole kernel corn out in OK.
whitetailfreak55
Baiting is not legal here either but mineral is during the off season and has to be 100 yards away from our stands. It all depends on what you want to do with your deer. For simply attracting them a salt based mineral like Deer Cain works well. If you read the back of the bag I think it contains like 90% salt. If you want to help the herd out with vitamins and nutrients to help promote antler growth and help the does with fawns then I would use Monster Raxx or a mineral like it. There is more nutrients then just salt in those.

SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
Here in South Ga you can hunt over bait, we've tried a hist of different products throughout the property, the problem for us is they have so many natural food sources they didn't touch any of it. They did hit the mineral block after the season was over. Dug a 2 foot deep by 3 got wide hole where it was. Guess they liked it!!
OKstate
I use trophy rocks and whole kernel corn in OK and they seem to keep the deer interested enough to stay in the area. I can definitely tell a difference in the number of pictures I get when the trophy rock is there in addition to the corn feeder.
RangerClay
In the summer months I've had excellent success with Trophy Rocks.
