hoosierhunter
It's that time of year where the plan starts to develop and everyone sets their goals. I have a very specific deer that I'm targeting this year. Splitter is a 5.5 year old and we are on a crash course for battle. I have other mature deer but I've made up my mind that as long as he's alive I pass everything else. There are two wildcard deer that I haven't laid eyes on yet this summer but I know they both made it through the season. Until I see them the plan above will stick. Anyone else have a huckleberry for this year?
bowhunter97
My plan is to just kill a buck with my bow. I have only shot a doe and now i want to simply kill a buck.
wtnhunt
Hard to say at this point. Have not yet seen any bucks I would consider shooters.
WStreblo
Season goals I got one that I hunted last year. He's at least 5yrs old and sports awesome headgear with all the bells and whistles.
dbHunterNY
aside from a buck I've posted here before that nobody has heard of getting taken, I've got no real monsters even for this areas lower standards. if that one is spotted it will be a giant by any standards. I just worry it's dead in a bush and is turning into a legend more than a feasible trophy. my huckleberry this year will be any decent buck that steps in front of me when I have my new recurve bow. haven't shot a deer with one yet and am pretty new to traditional archery. Scbasshunter
Season goals No trophies to pursue this year but I do hope to take a nice buck in velvet during archery season. If I can't get one in velvet, I hope to at least get a mature buck with a bow and maybe a doe or two with the bow. If none of that is accomplished, I'll pull out the rifle to get a deer or two in the freezer.
whitetailfreak55
My goal is the 8(might be 10) pount that I got on camera awhile back. Going to run cameras tomorrow and see if I got him again. Only mature deer I've got pictures of so far but I know a few of the bucks feom last year made it and they aee definitly shooters.
rhine16
Season goals Mature buck with the bow. Hopefully this is the year.

Trevor
I'm hoping just to be able to take my first buck ever this season. I passed on some small bucks early last season and did not get another buck in archery range the rest of the season. So I think I won't pass on a buck this year and get the first one under my belt. Ravin R10 man
Just going to shoot does to fill the freezer, if a good buck comes by, he will be among them
Strut10
Guess my goal this year is to take a 4.5 year old deer. I will, however, shoot a 3.5 year deer if he will net P&Y. Can't realistically set any higher goal for these parts.
elkoholic
My bow hunting goals lean towards taking a 300+ inch 6x6. Of course, that would be a bull elk. I have seen more elk this summer than in previous years and a lot less wolf sign. Not sure what that means but it is looking good. When it comes to deer, there is a certain mule deer buck that I have seen the past couple of summers and this year he has reached a most impressive size. I am usually not a mule deer hunter, but this buck is well over 30 inches inside with incredible mass and high deep forks. In the whitetail world here, I have yet to see one that would get me very excited. I am mostly just glad I can still climb the mountains and enjoy the adventure. SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
My season goals are the same as last year, meat in the freezer. We've got a few bruisers on the property. I know three of them are at least 3-4 years old. They're on the hit list two are 5x5 big boys, the other looks like a nice 4x4 basket rack. But we've got about 30 or so does, so I'm most likely gonna shoot for a couple of them first!
Tominator
I'm 9 months away from my 2nd masters, so unfortunately I won't have much time to hunt again this year. So my goal is to get out as much as I can, and hopefully share it with a buddy or two. Killing a deer will be a bonus, I'm quite sure.
robert p
with the season i had last year, my goal is to take it one day at a time. im getting pics of some nice bucks so far but im hoping to get a doe down early. than i'l go after the buck
Adjam5
To hunt more at home and do less traveling to hunt. I have been ignoring the woods behind my home for about 4 years. We have taken some good deer in these woods. But I just don't feel like I'm hunting when I am 300 yards from my home and 40 miles from NYC. But the pickings look as if they are gonna be great this year here. Seen a great bunch of bucks together eating the raspberries off the bushes in my yard the other night. Of course I will still have to compete with my son and the other locals who hunt this land. BUT...I get home about 3:30 every day and will have enough time to sneak in a hunt daily if I wish for 8 weeks of our deer season. Bow only here. wtnhunt
Finally got pics of one on our last pull that has my full attention, a mature big bodied buck that may be pope and young caliber when he finishes out. Would be great if I could get a shot at that deer with the bow. Things should pick up a bit around here as corn starts coming out, should get a better idea what is around. Hesitant to post any pics with not knowing about our new neighbors and some of the other issues we have going on around us.
Turkeygirl
To not get so excited, lol. Want to settle and focus on my shot better when a deer comes in. After my season last year, I'm not making too many goals, just fill my tags;)
Maine Hntr
I'm after what i consider probably a 4.5 or 5.5 year old (was a nice 10 last year and I'm hoping maybe he put on some mass this year), only got one pic of him but I'm pretty sure he made it through the season as there is fairly minimal pressure where I hunt and lots of deep woods. We'll see, fingers crossed. It's that time of year where the plan starts to develop and everyone sets their goals. I have a very specific deer that I'm targeting this year. Splitter is a 5.5 year old and we are on a crash course for battle. I have other mature deer but I've made up my mind that as long as he's alive I pass everything else. WStreblo
Season goals I'm hoping the one I passed on 4 times in one week grows some more mass. Pictures are in my photos... First
Rhino
Anyone else have a huckleberry for this year? Now that you mention it...sure do! Caught one on trial cams recently in MO that sure has my attention. Posted pics of him and some others in the photography & video forum. Added a lot more bone this year than last year and he was a shooter last year. He won't get a pass! That is if I don't get too shook up if he shows up. Can't say I'll pass all others just for a crack at him though. There were several other bucks that made it through last year that I'd like to see this year too. One of them I had inside 15 yards at ground level while doing some post season scouting in February. My goal is the same as usual...hope to bag one big mature buck...preferably with at least 10 points on his head. That and ~4 does. Anything over that is gravy. hoytshooter09
I just wanna shoot a 10 point shot a lot of deer but have never got a 10 and lots of does last year was the first year I didn't get one with my bow in a long time so lookin to catch up
abrown
No particular deer, the place I hunt in KS has milo, corn, and soybeans all within 2 miles of where I hunt, so I highly doubt I'll get too many photos of deer on the feeder until after harvest. I did draw out for a highly sought after deer tag here in OK, we're only allowed to use tradional archery equipment, so I've been hitting the recurve quit a bit.
