hoytman62
Out here in Ohio, we have an abundance of mosquitos because of all he wet weather we have. What kind of repellent do you recommend while hunting? I've heard about the thermocel is there any other?

WStreblo
Mosquito Repellent Out here in Ohio as well and I agree with you on the mosquito problem. THERMACELL! Been using it for years now and so far I'm content with it. It worked for me in Canada where the bugs are 10 times more abundant

dbHunterNY
I've used all the "natural" deet free repellents you can buy Cutter and some others. some smell worse or stronger than others but I've had mixed results. thermacells do work very well though. I use them.
hoytman62
What scent do you use while hunting?
WStreblo
Mosquito Repellent In my THERMACELL or in general?
wtnhunt
In the thermacell use the regular pads here. Never tried any that put out a scent to cover or attract.
hoytman62
In your thermo cell.
Tominator
Far as I know there are no scents for the thermacell, just the blue pads that go in there and heat up the repellent. It works, and I've never seen it spook a deer.
WStreblo
Mosquito Repellent Hoytman62 I use the scent free. I used the "natural" scent on a bear hunt in Saskatchewan this spring and I could smell it and I know if I could smell it the bears could smell it as well. SouthGaHuntingandOutdoors
Scent free only, I tried the other one. Thank god I tried it at home. It definitely stunk!!
Rhino
Thermacell. Yep...nuff said.
KSHoytHunter
Mosquito Repellent Thermacell has an "earth"scent pad. I use the earth one more than the no scent but either one works great
hoytman62
I bought the kit. However I saw the earth scent for sale but didn't see any scent free or natural. The repellent that comes with doesn't say what it is. So how do it get the scent free? Thanks!!
redkneck
I don't know of a scent free. For those that believe the pads are completely scent free try dropping one from your stand. Trust me they have an odor. They are very low scent though and is better than not being able to hunt at all due to mosquitoes.
hoytman62
Maybe ought to get the earth ones, you think??
KSHoytHunter
Mosquito Repellent I would go with the earth scent. It's the same price but it does smell like dirt IMO. Thermacell is the first thing I put in my backpack or turkey vest. They work that good. I was in Canada last summer and I had 2 going when I was on stand. Never had one issue with black flies or mosquitoes.
Dawg
I use a Thermacell as well. As for scent....just put a drop of doe urine on the pad.
