Rhino
To say the least I was happy with the 1st run on our trial cams in MO...especially with more time to add bone! From past experience, we're scratching the surface on this year's bucks. Here's a few pics from the 1st run This 1st buck is a no brainer for the hit list. This one won't get a pass either. The batteries died in this camera shortly after catching this guy in late June. Not sure if he's going to grow a drop tine or not on his left side but appears somethings going on there. Time will tell! A few more to keep tabs on. Time to sharpen some more broadheads!!!

hoosierhunter
Impressive 1st cam run Yep a few of those boys have the age! Choices are always nice. I have age structure but splitter is so far above and beyond the others(+20 inches)I can't fathom releasing the arrow on anything else right now. Rhino
Some nice ones there for sure Al. You have minerals on the stump? All our cams are set up on mineral licks right now William. Will probably start moving some to food sources soon before scraping cranks up. Yep a few of those boys have the age! Choices are always nice. I have age structure but splitter is so far above and beyond the others(+20 inches)I can't fathom releasing the arrow on anything else right now. Yea the 1st 2 have the age. They're on top of the known hit list for this year. Well the 3rd one's old too but need more info on him. I can certainly understand your quest for Splitter Pat. Been there before myself a few times targeting one particular buck. Killed the target buck once. Another time my buddy killed him after the rut was over. It's tough targeting one particular buck. Hope you get him. Edited August 2, 2013 by Rhino
dbHunterNY
definitely blessed with a nice area to hunt. even though MS isn't working out the best, MO looks more than promising.
Maine Hntr
Definitely some age on those guys, that first one is definitely a cool deer with the height it's got.
Rhino
Thanks...yep blessed to have this place in MO. Headed back up there on the 12th for a week to finish up some more projects and run the cams again. Will probably move some cams to trails going to the beans and corn fields next trip too. Hope to have some updates and some new bucks show up on the next run to share with y'all.
hoosierhunter
Impressive 1st cam run All I think that big 8 might be mature. In fact I think I remember you posting a similar 8 last year.... I'm guessing the 1st 2 around 145-150ish. The first might sneak into mid 150's???
Rhino
Al I think that big 8 might be mature. In fact I think I remember you posting a similar 8 last year.... I'm guessing the 1st 2 around 145-150ish. The first might sneak into mid 150's??? Yea...got more pics of the 8 & I think he's 4.5. Had several mature 8's last year but if I'm right about this one being 4.5, he's not one of those. I think the 1st buck is going to fool ya. With the 22 clear pics I have of him on 7/18 he was still adding bone. Sure he's not real wide but his beams are already out to the end of his nose & they're still growing. Not sure how much more the G4 & G5 will grow on his left side. We'll see. The angle of the pic showing them isn't great but it's the best one to see them on the scale here on the forum. Won't surprise me if he ends up grossing in the 160's come velvet shedding time. The 2nd buck's long brow tines are going to help his score a lot too. Color pics are easier to tell if the tines are adding bone & it sure looks like his 3's, 4's, and main beams are still growing. I may be wrong but my bet is he'll be bigger than you think too. I think the 4th & 6th deer are real good 3.5 bucks. I hope to catch the 2 typical 5x6's from last year. One was fully mature & the other was 3.5 last year. Fingers crossed the 3.5 will be a typical 12 this year.
hoosierhunter
Impressive 1st cam run I thought I might be under, but I'm trying to take the conservative approach. He looks very similar in frame to Kansas. He had 165 as his main scorables last year.
rhine16
Some really, really good looking bucks! 1st two are definitely impressive... I like the last one as well. The 8 in the next to last pic looks to be fully mature also.
Rhino
I thought I might be under, but I'm trying to take the conservative approach. He looks very similar in frame to Kansas. He had 165 as his main scorables last year.I hear ya Pat. Last year I was too conservative estimating these bucks from TC pics. It's a lot easier judging them on the hoof. Last year my buddy killed one I didn't even have on our hit list because I thought from multiple TC pics he was ~145 tops. Main frame 10 with 2 kickers that scored. He grossed 158 even. Another that was a hit list buck our neighbor buddy killed. I thought he was in the low to mid 150's from the pics. He grossed 167 & change. Main frame 10 with 1 long NT point. I scored both of them...honestly...no fudging! BTW...I caped both of them out too!
